Gibson had serial number issues in the 1960's and 1970's, it is difficult to tell from a chart exactly what year a Gibson was produced. This SG Special has dot position markers and mini-humbucker pickups, both standard on and SG Special. The color is walnut. It has some bent Kluson tuner shafts, but they work fine. There are dings, scratches and little dents in various places. The neck has never needed repair. (see photo's) I owned a 1973 SG Standard with the standard American made Humbuckers. With a Pro playing both guitars thru the same amp; we could not tell the difference. The body has beautiful grain front and back. The fret wear is minimal. A Road Case and the well worn Original Case come with this guitar (see last photo). I have been told that the bridge was not original by some and that a few SG's came this way (like the new one's now) with adjustable saddles. One is missing the lock down screw (see photo). I have never removed the pickguard, but believe it has never been open. Let me know if You want photos inside the covers. If you are looking for "that Gibson sound" and a super nice neck, then this is the one.The shipping is a flat $175.00 for both cases and the guitar to the 48 CONUS states of the US. Any Bidders from outside the US, Hawaii or Alaska should contact me prior to bidding. I will not ship through the USPS.
So I got a message today that does not show up on this page. I guess if you do not click on "Ask a question" below it does not show. The eBay Member pointed out that the serial number was a 1972 not a 1969. I could only find Reverb.com that made a direct reference. The "Made In USA" stamp below the serial number makes her a 1970, 1971 or 1972. Since it is 774585, he figured a 1972. Could be a 1971, but most likely 1972. Obviously I photographed the serial number so you could do your own research. This is the original finish, tuners and the hardshell case.
