Up for consideration is a Vintage, Leedy 4 octave marimba. This is a beautiful instrument and if you are looking for a marimba that is also easy to transport, I don't believe it will disappoint you. The bars are thick Brazilian Rosewood and the resonators are chromed brass. The instrument is solid with no rattles and plays beautifully. The bars are in great condition with no scratches. Only shows normal wear. Very well taken care of instrument and It has a wonderful, warm, big sound that you can only get from Brazilian rosewood. I would put this instrument somewhere between the mid 1930's to the mid 1940's. It is in all around fantastic condition and was re-strung, all parts replaced (post rubber, etc.) and was also tuned by Coe Marimbas in Tallahassee, FL. It is very easily transported as it comes apart and goes back together again very easily. This instrument is actually designed to have the lower and upper bars level like a vibraphone. Leedy made this model for a few years. It sets up that way or, I have devised a method that enables you to set it up as shown in the photos. It's very cool playing it the other way too especially if you are used to a vibraphones level bars. I have some large nylon bags that I will include. I will box it up very carefully to insure a safe and sound arrival. Will probably be 4 good size boxes. One for the bars, one for the frame and two for the resonators. If you live somewhere in Florida, pick up will be fine or if you live within 100miles of Tampa, I can meet you somewhere at the halfway point. Happy to answer your questions. Thanks for looking.
