Note:  All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers!Here is a nice vintage Viola from the Karl Hermann shop of Markneukirchen area of Germany for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! 
This viola has a label in it that says Andreas Morelli on it. And then handwritten on it is Antonius Stradivari for the model.The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this viola.  The viola has a one piece soundboard and two piece back.  Some finish loss to the belly most notably on right upper bout.  Nice golden brown stain on the entire viola.  A couple of hairlines that run up from either side of the saddle, the one on the right side meets the f hole.  Appears to have been repaired in the past as not open now.  Nice inlaid wood purfling, f hole, and scroll work.  The corner blocks are in place.  The beaks look good.  The fingerboard has no ridging that would impede string play.  The four tuning pegs are in place.  The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides, no separations to report. The sound post is up and in place.  Nice one piece back on this fiddle with beautiful maple "tiger" striping.  The purfling is inlay, not painted on.  The chin rest, nut, and tailpiece come with the violin.   Tuner box has has the tuner peg holes redone sometime in the past.  No cracks to the current tuner peg holes.  Nice looking tuner pegs that match, have a silver metal pin at the end of each of them.   The neck is securely attached to the body of the violin.
The viola is 26" long (660.4mm), by 9-1/16" (228.6mm) across at the lower bout and 7-7/16" (177.8mm) across at the upper bout.  The viola body is 15.75" (400mm) long.The viola comes in an older hard case that shows some wear and tear.  The latches all work and top securely attached to the base.  A make shift handle is still on the case.  There is no viola bow that comes with this viola.  We do have a number of viola/violin bows for sale at any time separately in our store.  There is a William Lewis & Son of Chicago cleaning cloth in the case with the viola.This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well.  With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections of antique items in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
