I had a couple of these built- a 2 year wait! I'm selling one to pay for the other. This listing is for a Grade A curly figured mango tele/esquire built by a friend of mine Dave Cervantes (please google), as 1/2 of a 2 tele custom order for me. Dave was employee of the year at Fender Custom Shop, he worked there for many years and is still in good standing. He just recently took 5 guitars to NAMM, for B.C. Rich Custom Shop. I'm a player and not much of a builder. I can without a doubt say after being his gofer for 1 1/2 years while this was being built that no corners were cut. Dave was "quality control" at the Custom Shop before moving here, You will receive a custom telecaster/esquire with a vintage neck and pickup that plays as good or better than anything you might custom order today at 1/2 the price, and that does not include the hand chosen exotic mango that had an undeniable and beautiful 3D effect due to over ten coats of hand rubbed teak oil finish that took weeks in itself to accomplish. On top there is serious curl/figuring above the grain that has a tiger stripe effect which pops out pleasantly unless closely examined, then it is mesmerizing; mostly horizontal stripes across the body especially in the area where the pickguard would be when playing. The finish is ten coats and hand rubbed, not sprayed, which intentionally makes a stunning presentation/inspiration. There is the basic unique mango grain that includes shades of "black-heart" on the on both ends of the body's back side, giving it a subtle of racing stripe. This body is the "best" of the two I had built. The slab wood for the body was chosen by myself and another friend who owns a mill here on the Big Island of Hawaii who knows "instrument grade curly Mango" very well. It was then cut by Dave (one piece slab) and put together to exact '52 tele specs other than intentionally being routed for a strat neck, which gives it more versatility; it can accomdate both strat and tele necks plus may others this way if you want to swap it out. I like to have the option of a strat or tele neck option on my teles. All high end and/or vintage Fender parts were used- a Fender '73 tele pickup that I purchased from the original owner who owns a guitar shop. Vintage pickups can be a gamble but this one sounds so sweet- as is the consensus. Orange drop and bumble bee in the wiring which was done in 53-58 Esquire wiring configuration. The three way switch allows for a hard-wire tele sound, a bluesy/jazzy sound and a mildly overdriven sound. I love it! The neck is an E series Dan Smith USA strat neck, marked '82 on the heel. Dave was not happy with this neck at all. He spent 'way too much time getting it up to spec high spec.' It is strait, crowned, dressed and as been choked so it 'feels and plays like a strait, fast worn in 60's neck." I've owned a couple hundred guitars and like a rare few, even after the setup, my fingers get sucked onto the fretboard when playing this guitar- the neck seems to be in charge of my hand. In full transparency, in order to dial in this neck all the tension on the truss had to be used. Amazon cheapo tweed Fender MIA case (That at least has a key) for protection purposes when shipped. I dislike reading postings that have an "oversell" theme like someone is selling a used car. That is not the case here. This guitar is ready for a pro-touring at the highest level. This guitar got way more attention than any guitar that would come out of any Custom Shop.***To match the guitar I had a dove-tailed solid mango amp cab made from a single slab other than the trim by another friend. this cab will last forever unless burned! I have played through this amp regularly for a year so it is good to go but the cabinet does have a few extremely very mild signs of wear. Mango is a very hard wood so it is hard to ding, but if that should happen to this cab all that needs to be done in ten years is a sanding/refinishing like any piece of furniture. There is no handle because in a way it is a piece of furniture! But I will include a "Dog-Bone" if requested. The amp itself is a 60's Silvertone 1431. 5 watts with the highjacked tweed Champ circuit that has made these amps so popular in studios. I believe the speaker is original- which isn't saying much and all tubes are stock. It has a three prong cord with a modification that allows it to be run through a bigger cab or an attenuator if you want to overdrive the tubes to get the "tone" while playing in the living room etc without a pedal. This IS NOT PART OF THE LISTING. Please inquire if interested. It will be listed separately very soonObviously this unique and exotic cab could be used to hold any smaller combo you prefer.20% of the proceeds from the the sale of this guitar will go towards the Wounded Warrior Project. The statistical number of war veterans who commit suicide every day is too staggering to list and a big focus of my "day job."Please contact me with any questions,Mahalo Sonny
