Up for sale, a 1978 Greco EG600GS Goldtop LP Deluxe, honestly played and in perfect working order. This classic Greco model emulates Gibson's Norlin-era construction in every respect, right down to the tacked in "goof strips" around the mini humbucker pickups! Featuring a solid mahogany body, maple top and three-piece maple neck, this Greco is a classic example of the craftsmanship and attention to detail of the Fujigen factory. In fact, the reputation of these guitars has persisted for decades that the quality control and final product were better than many Gibsons of the era!Tonally, the mini humbuckers are so similar to the Gibson pickups in the era that it's uncanny. Even the braided leads and patent pending stamped baseplates on the pickups were emulated. Bright, clear, punchy, and balanced, these pickups are a ton of fun and can capture everything from raw harmonic-rich growl in the bridge position to more smooth, mellow tonalities at the neck. At only 8bs 10oz, this Goldtop Deluxe is decidedly lighter than most too. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Greco Goldtop is dialed in with fresh 10-46 strings and optimal action and intonation. The three-piece maple neck features a slender C shaped profile, and the fretboard has fret edge binding, a top-tier Greco feature. The original vintage-style fretwire is intact, and these frets have plenty of meat left, with well rounded crowns and only faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2. The neck tenon is the dowel strengthened medium length joint that ensures stability and excellent sustain, and this is the same joint seen on Greco's Super Real line of instruments. The original bone nut is intact, measuring 1 11/16" in width and another factor in the clear tonality and great sustain of this "lawsuit era" Greco. On the headstock, the original tulip button tuning machines are intact, and while one small cap is missing on the high E gear housing, the tuners all still work exactly as intended. On the body, all of the original electronics work as they should, with full size pots and factory shielding. All of the stock hardware is present including the Nashville-style bridge, tailpiece, reflector cap knobs, switch surround, and "goof strips" that frame the mini humbucker pickup routes (something done by Gibson to hide over-routing on early Les Paul Deluxes, but seen here on this Greco simply to match every aspect of a Gibson build). The maple top has a lightly greened gold sheen, and the body shows various small nicks and chips around the edges of the top and on the back of the guitar as well. All wear is fairly minor and honestly earned, and this guitar is structurally sound with zero cracks or repairs! The original finish is vibrant and 100% original with no touchup or overspray. This Greco EG600GS Goldtop is a classic example of Greco craftsmanship, capturing the feel and tonality of a Gibson, and boasting the Fujigen factory's uncompromising quality.
