Up for sale, a 2015 D'Angelico EX-63 in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Modeled after the last guitar John D'Angelico built in his lifetime, the EX-63 features a full 17" lower bout, pressed spruce top with round soundhole, and figured maple back and sides. A tonal powerhouse with scalloped X braces, this guitar delivers midrange sweetness and chop with great string to string balance and top end cut that is present without being too strident. The lows bloom and have a nice fullness without overshadowing the treble frequencies, and a piezo pickup is embedded in the ebony bridge for the moments where plugging in is essential, yet you still want to retain some of the signature tone of this unique archtop. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this EX-63 boasts fresh strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a fairly slender C shaped profile with slight shoulders and a bound ebony fretboard that boasts abalone block inlays. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with no buzzing or dead spots and medium jumbo fretwire that is virtually flawless. The hand-carved bone nut measures 1 3/4", with ideal string spacing for accurate leads, complex chord voicings, and comfortable fingerpicking. The headstock retains the stock Grover Imperial tuning machines and D'Angelico Excel inlays.On the body, the guitar features a stair step gold trapeze tailpiece, bound tortoise pickguard and floating ebony bridge with the piezo pickup embedded inside. The instrument shows virtually no cosmetic wear, with a deep two tone sunburst finish and bookmatched flame maple on the back.The original D'Angelico hardshell case is included.
