With no attachment they are basically flat and great for free field / close recording of instruments. As you apply the different sizes of APE balls you get more and more HF lift and directionality in the HF. They work similar to the Neumann M50 & M150 mics but with the option of changing the shape of the diaphragm's casing.I've used the mics almost exclusively as a decca tree arrangement for a range of film score recordings (happy to show links for examples of sound) but no longer do this sort of work so am parting with them.Any questions please just ask.
