Here for sale we have a fine post war survivor. This late 40s Premier set was used extensively by a chap called Gene Mayo who ran his own dance band through the 50s on the South coast, i'm the second owner. It is in fine condition considering the life it led, the White Duroplastic wrap is not overly yellowed and shows only some small scrapes and minor splits. Likewise the chromework does show some pitting commensurate with its 60 plus years but all in the set is very presentable. Please peruse the photos at your leisure. It should suit a retro band type and will give many more years service if cared for. These immediate post war Premiers have slightly thicker shells with altogether more robust rerings than the later output. This makes them a bit heavier too, and allied with the early Art Deco inspired hardware they represent my personal favourite period of Premier manufacture. Still, they gotta go ... And the sizes are ...20x14 bass drum. 3ply birch shell with solid beech rerings. A Pre International sized drum and a highly unusual for the period ten lugger, Premier did not return to 10 lugs on a 20" bass for another thirty odd years. This may have been a special factory order by Mr Mayo although I have seen one other 20" of the period with this configuration. Comes fitted with the 10 AD lugs, 20 cast Ts and claws, first generation spigot mount and clamp on spurs. Originally this had dampers front and back but they had been removed by the time I acquired it, i'll include a felt strip to compensate. Has a Remo CS clear to the batter and an original calfskin to the reso head.16x15 Floor tom. 3ply birch shell with solid (monster!) beech rerings. Pre International size, 20 AD lugs, slot headed tension bolts all round. Cast beerbarrel hoops and "Tone Control" stamped dampers top and bottom. Strip style leg mounts and original legs with original rubbers. Calfskin batter head and used Everplay to reso.12x8 Ride tom. 3ply shell with solid beech rerings. Pre International sized drum with 6 AD lugs, slot headed tension bolts all round. Cast beerbarrel hoops and "Tone Control" stamped damper to batter head. First generation spigot mount, this has been moved at some point but the redundant small fixing holes are under the mount and not externally visible. Calfskin batter head and used Everplay to reso. This is about as good a set of late 40s Premiers as you are likely to find these days. That said I have actually acquired a better for me set so these should be passed along I feel. They should make somebody very happy, they still want to go on giving ...Included in this sale are the three drums (20/16/12) ONLY and all other items (ie hardware/cymbals) are shown for illustrative purposes only and are NOT FOR SALE. The snare however is available in a separate listing. On which note ... I will accept offers on the entire, kit+snare, please email me for details. I will post these drums to anywhere in the known world, prices quoted for Worldwide shipping is an estimate only, some locations may be considerably more and some may be less so please get in touch for an accurate price for shipping to your destination. Only actual shipping costs will be charged. I accept payment by Paypal, bank transfer or even good old foldin' money should collection be made ...Any questions or further picture requirements?
