I purchased this guitar in early December and have not played it for more than a couple of hours. I had it professionally set-up so the truss rod, action, intonation and pick-up height are all spot on. It has new 10-46 nickel plated Fender strings on it.
The guitar is in excellent condition, no scratches or chips anywhere. The nitro gloss finish is like a mirror.
I purchased the guitar from a Gibson dealer in Pennsylvania as new old stock, meaning it's been in the store since 2014 but was never sold. They shipped it to me the first week in December. The climate change going from cold weather to warm weather here in South Florida cause very very minor finish checking along the edges of the body. Honestly you can't see it unless you bring the guitar near a window or daylight. I could not capture it in a photo and if I didn't disclose it here I bet you wouldn't even notice it along the edges.
I took a couple of pictures of the heel, (where the neck meets the body in the back) there is a painted area around the strap button, it protects the back of the guitar from scratching near the strap and covered the nitro seam issue that many 339's have.
The guitar is probably one of the smoothest easy playing guitars I have ever touched. You will love playing it!!!! Gibson's ES-339 found an immediate place in the hearts and hands of guitarists who worshiped the classic ES-335 look, feel and tone, but needed that time-tested versatility in a more compact package. The ES-339 Studio from Gibson Memphis nails all the benefits of its predecessors but with the popular Studio styling, for a no-compromises tone machine offering 100% American-made quality at an unbeatable price. The elegant lines of the original ES-335 are cleverly drawn down to render a familiar yet more compact playing experience in the ES-339 Studio. Its stripped-down Studio format offers a lack of pickguard and binding with "soft edged" body contour, streamlined controls, and simplified gold headstock logo. A major savings in price and weight comes without losing one ounce of quality, though, as evident in its Grover Rotomatic tuners, TonePros AVR2 bridge and long-anchor tailpiece studs, CTS pots with Orange Drop tone caps, and Gibson's '57 Classic (neck) and hotter Super '57 (bridge) humbucking pickups.
