Addition to the original listing (an update): We spoke to Steve DeMarino yesterday:  This guitar is know as the Flame Guitar, that hung in the window of the De Marino shop for years until they closed it down and moved to different quarters.  The Flame  was built by both Steve and his father for a punk rock lead player.   It rocks!  Period.  And plays like silk.  It is not another pretty face, but with a fresh set of 9 volt batteries, this thing screams, and plays effortlessly with killer action and no buzzing whatsoever. Perfectly intonated and tunable.  Light and mean.  Steve told me that the guitar was stolen right out of the window in the shop, recovered and then stolen several more times, always finding its way back.  Anyway the original owner sold it back to Steve, who gave it to a friend who had it stolen from him.  It was seen some time later by Steve, who asked him how he came about the guitar thinking he had the culprit.  The man said he got in a container that he had purchased as they do on the TV show.  So it made its way back to Steve's friend, who must have sold it to Sam Ash, who sold it to me.    He was laughing said the Flame Guitar was the guitar that "wouldn't go away."   That may explain the aging on the guitar from some rough usage, but this baby has withstood it all and plays like a dream without exaggeration. We don't always play what we sell, but I was curious.  It swings.  Thank you to Steve DeMarino for the gracious conversation about The Flame and its provenance. Original listing: This is a very unusual 19 year old vintage Ron DeMarino solid body electric guitar with active EMG Humbuckers wired into 2 x  9 volt batteries in the rear cavity.  Ron DeMarino is a former guitarist with the Lester Lanin Orchestra, a protege of John D'Angelico, a luthier with a shop on Long Island that still exists with his son Steve, and most famously the guitar guru/luthier for John Lennon from 1972 till  Lennon's retirement . He has worked on every guitar Lennon ever had apparently and would sit on the bed (with John and Yoko in it), hopefully behaving themselves, taking notes on work to be done.    All in the line of duty.  Please note, this guitar is very aged from playing and touring.  It has been bopped, dinged, chipped and  there is one small break on one of of the wings (that has been repaired), checked, and overall looks like it has been run over by a couple of trucks twice.   And yet, the jumbo fret wires look almost new. The solid body is mahogany, dressed in a custom white finish with neon pink and neon yellow.  The nick profile is tapered and fast, with black sealed tuning machines, jumbo frets, a bound ebony fingerboard with white mop inlays in a flickering flame pattern that matches the theme on the back. The humbuckers are wired to 9 volt batteries contained in the rear cavity, which is wired to an 18 volt preamplifier with a mini-toggle switch pup selector, mini toggle switch phase selector, and two volume and one single master tone control knobs.  All work! Equipped with a white body Kahler locking tremolo, with matching stamped serial numbers on the neck and body. Ron's signature is below the neck heel.  Ships in a white coffin case.  There is no tremolo arm.  Please look at the photos carefully.  Also please remember that in in-studio lighting the colors are more brilliant than in low lighting.  But the colors are accurate. It has loads of character and not only has survived a war, but is still perfect. (except cosmetically). Grunge.
