He was selling his shop and off-loading a large amount of imported new stock, keeping a little back to do some line selling in his retirement.I already have a Jet Glow Ricky and I saw this on an attractive deal just before the Brexit vote - and the subsequent hike in the prices of new USA guitars since the pound lost 25% of its value. I opened the import box, was stunned by its beauty  ...... and I drove it away. Once home I plugged it in to make sure it was all OK – it’s perfect - and then put it away until today.The dealer imported it from the Rickenbacker Santa Ana factory in 2015 along with many other Rickenbacker’s. I bought it from him in the summer of 2016 (still in its import box) and since then it’s remained in its case under my stairs untouched. Literally less tan 5 minutes play since it came out of its box. It’s perfect   If you’ve not played one they are very different. For a start they are set up with perfectly straight neck so you can bring the action down to fag paper levels along THE WHOLE LENGTH of the fretboard without any buzzing of choking. Lower than a Les Paul or a 335!  The action will make you laugh. How can a guitar have the same action at the 1st, 5th, 9th, 12th,15th and 22nd fret and not buzz? It’s amazing. It's the build quality - best guitars in the world.  For lead playing you may want to take the action up a tad. For Rhythm and picking ala West Coast styles it’s like these guitars play themselves. Magical. Try one!What I like about Ricky’s most though, is the culture of the company. They have NOT embraced globalisation like Fender and Gibson have. Their guitars are all hand made at their factory at Santa Ana California – they DO NOT dilute their brand with factories in Mexico, Indonesia, Japan or China. They make EVERYTHING in house – including all their own hardware right down their own machine heads! When the U.S. Government limited the amount of Nitrocellulose lacquer guitar companies could use each year, Rickenbacker did not shift manufacture abroad but decided instead to reduce the number of guitars manufactured each year at Santa Ana and use the same amount of lacquer they used on each guitar - and lo and behold, the natural forces of supply and demand looked after their Balance Sheet in no time and waiting time for orders got longer. (I'm trying to find a shop in the UK - any bloody shop - that has a NEW Ruby Ricky 4003 bass at the moment .... no chance!)  Anyway ….. you will not be disappointed with this guitar! (Throwing in Fender strap or a gibson strap - you choose - just to get the ad noticed by being able to put the word Fender / Gibson in the title without stirring the wrath of Ebaystazi - the unacceptable face of capitalism) BTW - Did you know the electric guitar was invented by Adolf Rickenbacker who lived in the Appalachian Mountains and was neighbour of the actual family that The Walton’s is based on?
