GUITAR.
EXTREMELY
RARE.
VERY COOL.
1983

ABOUT THE MAKER:
This guitar was built in March, 1983 in the TIME Guitar shop in Burlington, VT.  The Serial Number is 167.  Model is XS-12,

This is what we know about TIME Guitars from public sources:
“Time Guitars was started by Alan Stack in 1973. The Company was located in several Vermont locations during its existence. Time produced hundreds of incredible handmade guitars from the 1970's thru the 1980's.  Alan worked for a company called Mellisa Guitars in the 60's where he learned his craft. The Mellisa guitars had a distinctive lower bout that inspired the slanty curves on the later Time Caster. Alan built the first Time Guitar in Florida. In 1970-72, Alan moved to Vermont and setup a shop in Waltham. Alan always wanted his guitars to stand out. He wanted you to either love them or hate them right away. Around this period Paul Languedoc was hired. Later the Barn was torched by an arsonist and hundreds of guitars were lost forcing Time to close forever.”
ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT:
This is what we know about this fine guitar:

The BODY is made of very high grade MAHOGANY and painted in an unbelievable “orange fade burst” finish with the most unusual binding we have ever seen.  It is black white checkered pattern that makes this guitar a WORK OF ART.
The SET NECK has a 12” curve that is thicker than a “Strat” and smooth to play.
The FRETBOARD is BEAUTIFUL EBONY that  is RARE and smooth.
The INLAYS are diamond shaped and extremely well done.  This was a specialty of Paul Languedoc and his artistry shows here.
The FRETS are  “JUMBO” size and are very well dressed.
The BRIDGE  is a TOM SCHALLER.
The BRIDGE  PICKUP is a DUNCAN JEFF BECK.
The NECK PICKUP is a Mighty Mite HUMBUCKER.
The TUNERS are M-6 MINI.

There are 4 three way selector SWITCHES that are wired
in a “complex” manner which allows for coil tapping,
series/parallel , coil cut switching (seems to have been
modeled after GARCIA’s IRWIN guitars).  THIS IS A VERY
RARE WIRING SET UP providing amazing sounds.

This is an AMAZING and RARE guitar.  We have graded it as being in GOOD CONDITION.  Look at the photos and you will see the usual" player scratches, dings, bangs, and nicks-look for nick on heel.” The most noticeable blemish on the guitar is on the horn of the rear top bout “wing”.  The paint has been knocked off and there is a dent.  You can see it in the photos. The paint is very faded.

A GREAT PLAYER WITH TRADITIONAL THICK EXPLORER TONES.  VERY WELL BALANCED.  HANGS GREAT.

The case is original and very large.

ABOUT TUNEYOURSOUND. Tune Your Sound Sound Your Tune Guitars make Sounds ! Guitar players make Tunes. But which guitar makes your Tune best? The beginning point in making a tune is You. The music in your head goes to your hands which form chords and notes. The end point is the Tune heard by those listening created by the Sounds of the instruments in between. Our job at TuneYourSound.com (TYS) is to fill in the middle. Or, in other words, "complete the chain". We are guitar players and collectors at TuneYourSound.com. Collectively we have personally owned and played over 1800 guitars. And we have seen guitar players play-from Jimi using his teeth to Jimmy using his bow. And now, we want to tell you what we have learned over the years and under the stages. First: There should be two primary guitars in your life. The one you start with (by choice or coincidence) and the one you finish with (once you find it, you'll know it and keep it). But of course, humans are acquisitive by nature, so we are prone to own more than we need-but a guitar player must have what he really needs. Two: Sometimes it's better for a guitar to be heard than seen and other times it's better for a guitar to be seen than heard. So, play it both ways. Buy a guitar that does both. Three: Avoid the hype. Especially now with the Internet overloading us with data. Buy a guitar that you trust from someone you trust. Four: Make it personal. Establish a relationship with your seller. That way you will never be disappointed-nor abandoned. After all, it is still about money-your money. And you deserve to get more than you give. At TuneYourSound.com, we have the answer!
