The LG2 was made from 1942 - 1962, but a Banner logo LG2 is a rare find, only available from 1942 - 1946, and is one of the most desirable Gibson models available. During the war they were only made in small numbers, and this is one of the earliest examples you'll find, featuring the very desirable 'skunk stripe' neck. The LG2 is a 00 size guitar with very desirable X bracing, making the guitar extremely resonant - a surprisingly big sound for a small bodied guitar. It features a Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides which give the guitar a real warmth and depth. The most obvious difference of the early 40's LG2's is the neck - it's fat and chunky - meaning it carries fuller tone and greater sustain than it's later 40's equivalents. The guitar is in well played condition, quite scruffy in places, and the tone has only benefited from this - what a sound..... the guitar practically plays itself, it just oozes character, very mellow and smooth - a real joy to play. The guitar looks and plays great - although it has some back binding missing and once had a tailpiece fitted - and comes in it's original hard case.
