This auction is for replica of a "Fender Stratocaster with Schecter assembly" played by Jeff Beck when he toured Japan with Stanley Clarke in 1978.
This guitar was made in 1980 (judging from the serial number) by Matsumoku which was one of the best Japanese guitar manufacturer, having built accurate replica models for Aria (Arai Gakki) and for other Japanese brands like Greco. Japanese made Epiphone models made in 70s and early 80s were manufactured by Matusmoku too.

Each double-coil can be tapped separately, and you can also reverse the phase. Then there is an active boost circuit and there is also a 6-position Baritone knob. At that time, many Japanese manufactures like Fernandes, Aria, Greco and so on made the same replica models. Greco sold three different Jeff Beck Strat models; SE-800J, SE-600J and SE-500J.
They have much the same appearance. As far as I know, SE-800J and SE-600J have the same wiring that is more complicated than that of SE-500J. I don?t know exactly the difference between SE-800J and SE-600J. Some Japanese websites states SE-800Js have a nitro finish. Others state they have different pickups.
Anyway, SE-800J is much rarer than the other two models. The guitar has three mini switches. As far as I checked the sounds of all positions and did the research on the internet, the switch system is as follows: Switch 1/front for changiomg the wiring of the neck pickup
Up position: neck pickup and middle pickup wired in parallel
Down position: neck pickup and middle pickup wired in series Switch 2/middle for neck pickup and middle pickup
Up position: neck pickup is on.
Middle position: both neck pickup and middle pickup are off.
Down position: middle pickup is on. Switch 3/rear for bridge pickup
Up position: bridge pickup is on.
Middle position: bridge pickup is off.
Down position: the phase of the middle pickup is reversed. *When the switches are selected as below, the guitar doesn't have output.

switch 1/down + switch 2/middle + switch 3/middle With the switch system, you can get normal Strat's sounds by the 5 way switch + variety of different sounds like Brian May's guitar. Greco is one of the earliest ?lawsuit? guitar brand in Japan produced by Kanda Shokai (Shokai means trading company). which is a musical instrument wholesaler mostly known for being part of Fender Japan .
Greco first started in 1960. Most of the 1960's guitars were original models, but in the early 1970's, they got into making replicas of original Fenders and Gibson?s . At first, their hardware were not good enough to make really good, exact replicas, but by mid 70's, they had the correct-style hardware to match their excellent craftsmanship.Most of the Fender replicas in the era were manufactured at Fujugen Gakki plant. Some of them were by Matsumoku . The ones made in Matsumoku have Matsumoku stamped on the neckplate. In 1981/1982 Fender (U.S.), Kanda Shokai and Yamano Gakki established FENDER JAPAN Co. Ltd. and Kanda Shokai stopped producing the Greco Fender replica models. Some years ago Yamano Gakki left the partnership and FENDER JAPAN Co. Ltd was absorbed by Kanda Shokai.That's why the Greco Fender replicas from the late 1970s and early 1980s are similar to the early Fender Japan guitars. According to the serial number, this one was made in 1980.

It has a V shaped neck that is very rare as a Greco Strat made in the era. The 1st string tuning peg is bent, so it is a bit hard to tune the strings but they can hold the tuning. Some parts of the paint are uneven as you can see the pictures. There are paint cracks near the neck pocket as often happens with bolt-on neck guitars The last two digits of the serial number in the pictures is hidden for the sake of the next owner. Specs

The neck looks straight and the truss rod works fine.
The fretboard is smooth and fine.
The frets show minimal wear for its age.

There are some blemishes, dents, scratches and so on, but on the whole you could say that the guitar is in excellent condition. Almost all of the guitars in my store are not a brand new, but a used one, so they are not always be in "PERFECT" condition. This can be especially true of "VINTAGE" guitars that have had many years of use and because of this they can sometimes have issues with playability, so for many reasons they may need care and maintenance before reaching an optimal playing condition. Please read the following detailed information that should always be considered when buying a used guitar. *Neck Nowadays a lot of guitar players know the term "JV" (Japan Vintage) and that the values of guitars made in and around the JV era are getting higher. I am glad and proud as a Japanese person that these guitars were made by expert craftsmen with selected materials and I totally agree with the reputation that these guitars have earned. However, in Japan, there is a significant humidity difference through the year which can have a bad influence on the materials in guitars if they are not well kept & carefully maintained. Additionally these guitars were often purchased by beginners or students and can tend to be poorly treated without ever having any maintenance. Sometimes they are stored away for ages after a very short period of use, as a result it is often the case that they have issue's about the neck. I have played guitar for many years and all the guitars in my store were listed only after I checked & played them personally. All of the guitars in my store passed the normal standards/my standards unless particularly stated otherwise.
However that does not mean "perfect" condition as most guitars in the world have some issue be it a scratch or a break. Additionally, the pressure change, humidity change and change in temperature have a bad influence on the guitars during the shipping or after arriving in your country so they may need some adjustment before playing. *Frets As the guitars are used the frets are worn more or less. I cannot say 70% or 80% left or something like that,,,,,because who can count the degree in a precise way? So please check the degree by the pictures. If the guitar needs refreting or if there is any defect with the frets (judging by my standards) it will be stated in the description. *(Fret /String) Buzz I check the Fret (String) Buzz by picking normally with light gauge strings (009-046), adjusting the bottom string height (low E) to 2.0 / 2.5 mm and the top string height (high E) to 1.8 / 2.2 mm. (For basses, the bottom string height/E to 2.8 / 3.3 mm and the top string height/G to 2.3 / 2.8 mm.) The guitars are used, so slight buzz could occur. If the fret buzz of the guitar is above the normal standard, the detail is described in the description of the guitar.
Anyway, how you feel the fret buzz depends on the player, so any requests to settle repair fee is not accepted. *Cosmetic condition As the guitars are used, they might have a number of dents, scratches, blemishes, chips and so on. Unless they are in mint or near mint condition, you cannot describe all of them, so please judge the condition by the pictures. *Electrical parts ALL the electrical parts work fine unless there is a particular fault in which case it will be mentioned in the description, but they might have a slight scratchy sound. *Tax and duties As stated above, the auction winner or the buyer is responsible for any and all applicable taxes and duties levied by their government.
