Up for auction is this one of a kind Fender Precision Bass which has been amazingly custom finished in vintage Spy Vs. Spy comics from Mad Magazine.ABOUT THE BASS:
This is a 1990's refinished P-Bass Body and pick guard with a beautiful 2009 Fender MIM neck. The neck is made from a really nice piece of flame maple and comes with a rosewood fret board. Frets and neck are in great shape, neck is straight and it plays great. Back of the neck features a cool skunk stripe and the Fender logo was revised in 2009 to look all vintage and awesome. All of the nickel hardware is 2009 but different Seymour Duncan Bass pickups were painted and installed. The wiring has been reinforced and everything is well shielded inside. (PLAYS AND SOUNDS AWESOME) NOTE: The 2009 parts are from a PBass I bought brand new at Guitar Center so I could complete this project. I wasn't able to put the whole thing together until just recently so the bass is like new - barely played.ABOUT THE FINISH:
The original 90's body was stripped down, sanded, and decoupaged with vintage Spy Vs. Spy comics from Mad Magazine. The finish even features the VERY FIRST Spy Vs. Spy comic strip from the January 1961 issue of Mad, and the entire thing, all edges, have been finished with complete strip panels that you can follow/read around the bass. Most of the strips featured are from the 1960's less a couple early 1970's panels. To finish it off, a vintage Mad Collectible Connectable of Alfred E. Neuman's face was used to decoupage the 3-ply pick guard. You can't see it in the photos but the bass body underneath the pick guard is also completely finished. After the panels were all in place, this bass was painstakingly coated OVER and OVER in polyurethane (12 times +!), with multiple dry and wet sanding sessions until it had a good shiny durable thick finish. THE PHOTOS DON'T DO IT JUSTICE!Offering this one of a kind fine art bass guitar (which many many hours have been spent on) at a low opening bid of just $999.99 (NO RESERVE), or, you can Buy It Now for $2,299.00.COMES SHIPPED IN A VERY WELL PACKED BOX W/FENDER GIG BAG VIA INSURED PRIORITY SHIPPING.
