This beautiful Guitar is part of Fender's Master Series which began in 1983/1984.  This example is from the first year of production for this model, 1984 (Serial # E524468).  They did not start building it again till 1989 (1984, 1989-1994, 1994-2002).  These were designed by Jimmy D'Aquisto himself.  This is a hollow body jazz instrument, 2 3/4" thick, with a scale length of 24 3/4".  The nut width is 1 11/16", and the neck is a very comfortable thin "D" shape.  The neck is 3 piece maple, the head, 5 piece maple.  The action is excellent.  The tail piece is adjustable.  Though I have never heard this, I think that it is to adjust the angle at which the strings break over the bridge.  This would change the sound of the tone and attack.  It measures 16" at the lower bout and 41"overall.  It has a nice rounded single cutaway with a glued in neck. The sides are flame laminated maple.  The construction of the beautiful spruce top is a bit in question-I have read one place that it is laminated, and another place that it is solid (If you know for sure, please let me know)  It has an incredibly beautiful book matched flame back (the nicest I have seen on one of these), and mother of pearl inlays all around. The single Schaller humbucking pickup is in the neck position.  All the hardware is gold, and the tailpiece, finger board, and tuner knobs are ebony.  The pickguard, control knobs, and bridge could  be ebony also.  I have seen ebony that has lighter streaks to it, examples that you could see more grain in. For arguments sake let's just say that it is rosewood.  The pickguard is triple bound WBW, The "F" holes single bound W.  The neck and head stock are triple bound WBW, and the body, top and back  WBW.  Basically the design is a mixture a Gibson ES 175, and a D'Aquisto Excel.  The VG Guide says that in 1994 the construction of THIS MODEL went to the US Fender Custom Shop.  They were constructed with D'Angelico working on the first ones.  These sold for $6000.00 and up, and were made in limited amounts.   Overall, my instrument is the nicest Sunburst of this model that I have seen (with the exception of the US Custom Shop models.  By the way, you can see one of the custom ones here on Ebay right now.  Pull up the example of the wonderful guitar being sold by the seller dgmoreland.  As you can see, they are the same model, almost identical; the Custom Shop one, of course, has better woods and a higher caliber of construction.  It also probably had Jimmy D'aquisto's  hand's on it at one time.  It is a truly  great instrument.)  So why am I playing up someone else's guitar??  Well, if you have the money, it is a very good choice. But, if you don't, mine is an exceptional buy, for thousands less.  They do not come up for auction often.  I believe that this is because the quality is hard to replace at a similar price.  They tend to be "keeper" guitars.  Compare the Price and quality to the former  guitars made by Hagstrum and Aria, also in cooperation with D'Aquisto, as well as the new ones made in the Orient under the D'Aquisto name brand.  The cost of these is often higher than those made by Fender, that are sometimes of higher quality. The condition, as mentioned, is "excellent" to "near mint".  First off, if you see what looks like an imperfection in any of the pictures, it is a glare or a shadow.   The only imperfections I can find are: 1) There are some swirl type marks are on the back, upper bout, bass side, the front, upper bout, treble side, and on the headstock .  These are minimal, and were caused by normal, light play from the original owner.  2) There are three small scratches, about 1" each, in the same location on the back.  Actually, to call them scratches is maybe incorrect.  They are only in the lacquer.  Most of these marks from 1) or 2) can not be seen without turning the instrument on an angle, and looking in a bright light; with the exception of those on the headstock.  3) There is just a little fret wear on frets 1-3 under the unwound strings.  The strings should of course be changed, and the frets could use a light polish.  That's it. Some small marks in the lacquer (ones that should be able to be buffed out),  and the tiny amount of fret wear.  I'm selling this because I have decided to use a solid body for jazz right now.  The sound fits more of what I am doing at present, and I can't keep such a great guitar in the closet.  I've had this one for many years, and have played it only a few hours. I try to describe my items as best I can.  The fact is, I have recently seen sellers use the words "mint" or "immaculate" for guitars with dings/chips/scratches/marks, lacquer cracks, yellowing and broken binding, and tarnished and scratched hardware.  I have even seen ones with significant fret wear, and ones that have obviously been dropped!!  I know that you will love owning and playing this guitar. The original hard shell case is in excellent condition also. This item will also be for sale elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
Payment should be made within 3 days of the end of the auction.  I only accept Paypal as payment, and only ship to Paypal verifiable addresses.  I normally do not take returns on vintage equipment, most used guitar sellers do not.  However, since there is a lot of money involved, I will accept a return only under the following circumstances.  1) It must be returned in the same condition as it was originally sent.  2) It must be returned in the original packaging.  3) You have only 3 days to check it out.  You must call me within those 3 days and notify me if your intension is to return it.  4) You must mail it within the next 2 days.  I will refund the amount of the item only, not the original shipping.  Also, you must pay for the insured return shipping, with the same or better carrier.  Having said all of this, please ask all questions before bidding.  I want you to be CERTAIN that this is what you want before buying it.  I of course desire to keep my 100% feedback.  Please notify me before you leave any neutral or negative feedback.  The shipping is to the US lower 48 states only.
