You are bidding on a Very Rare, Very Odd, Very Strange, Very Super Awesome Acoustic Electric Guitar. Signed by the artist. The Production version Ovation Thunderbolt was built in three colors Black, White & Red. However they also built some very interesting, Limited Edition, Hand Painted Thunderbolts in very small quantities. This one is Very Rare Indeed. Most of the Limited Edition Thunderbolts were "Snake Skin" but as you will read in the email below, about 100 of each color of Snake Skin were made. However there were fewer then 25 "Dragon Skin" Limited Editions made making this an extremely rare bird. Here is an email I received when I sent an inquiry to Ovation back in 2005 when I first obtained this guitar."The TB01 guitars were built from 1988 to 1990 or so. They came in red, black and white. The retail price back then was $1,295 plus case. In 1989 we did some of the "Snake Skin" and what we called "Dragon Skin" hand painted tops. Jim O'Connor was the artist, we shipped the bodies to him in Long Beach, to his studio where I visited once. It was on board a 55 foot Chris Craft anchored in the harbor in Long Beach, this is where he lived as well. No accurate figures can be found on these but I remember about 100 of each color "Snake Skin" and around 25 total of the "Dragon Skin" were built, that is plus or minus."   John Budny, Customer Service Manager, Ovation Instruments.Hand painted? On a boat? 1 of 25 ever built according to Ovation. It really doesn't get much cooler than that! The guitar has a few small scuffs and a small crack on the top and a few small cracks on the side of the fingerboard that I have tried to show in the photos.
Over all it is in very good condition.

If you love Ovations and want something interesting, collectible and frankly, a little bit odd, this is the guitar for you!
