EMBASSY BRAND ALTO SAX-  COUESNON STENCIL   ( Note the  Cs stamped into the key guards and the cut off corners on the key work).       Serial # 3569, (on the bell). Looks to be a 1960s horn
Rolled tone holes. High F#.  Double tenon neck. "Modern feel" ergonomicsThis is a professional level horn that was a competitor to the French  Selmers of the time
Lacquer is still good though there is slight pitting mostly on the key pads , and  a few light  spots of green around the tone holes Very light denting in bottom end. Low C key may have had some dent repair and  there is still a slight depression on the inside key guard.  No other dents or signs of dent repairs A second neck strap ring has been added. Great location but ugly soldering job. All new pads. Two of the palm key pads, D and F have synthetic, Valentino pads. I don't know why but they seal well. Neck: no bend down, no signs of repairs.  Lacquer mostly gone. Good cork. Plays great throughout the range. i put it through its paces on a Bach cello suite to test for big jumps and it did fine. This is a great horn, a real all round saxophone with that classic French sound. I preferred it to the SML REV D that I sold earlier.  Couesnon was obviously a very innovative manufacturer. Like the SML, it doesn't need  a very bright or opened- tip mouthpiece to get a big sound. I will include a new old stock 1960s  Riffault Ideal mouthpiece that plays very well  with it. Comes in a Yamaha Custom case that shows a few scuffs but is still totally functional.
