Trombonium, Bb valve trombone in a baritone wrap, American Standard by H.N. White (King). SN 257XX dates this instrument to 1941-42. Silver plated with nickel-silver finger buttons. H.N. White introduced the trombonium in 1938, For the first few years the trombonium was marketed exclusively under the American Standard band instruments brand, and then later produced under the King label. Originally targeted at middle-school students as a starter instrument prior to learning baritone horn or slide trombone due to it's compact wrap and light weight. No major dents, just the normal minor dings and scratches expected in a 75-year-old horn. Silver plating is 95%+. Original hardshell case, battle-scarred but quite functional with working hinges, latches, and handle. Horn has been ultrasonically cleaned and checked out by my instrument tech. Included is a 1950's small-shank art-deco Conn EZ-Tone baritone mouthpiece, which is a good sonic match from my play-testing. With a baritone shoulder strap, this makes an excellent second-line parade horn. I am sad to see it go, but I must downsize my collection prior to retirement.
