1972 Fender musicmaster bass, original Daphne blue finish. All original. It is a lightweight and resonant bass at 7 lb, 4 oz.
Comfortable easy action, and great tone. Some wear to the finish, but the frets and neck are outstanding. The neck is very straight and true. The original frets are still in very nice shape for the age, with nice fretboard. All original finish, hardware and electronics. The finish has checked and aged with chips on front and back and edges, with a couple cigarette burns on the headstock. The pickguard has a crack by the tip, and the hardware has tarnish. A phone number and name was engraved on the bridge and neck plate. This bass features the early first issue features including the moth wing tuners, early pickguard screw pattern, and tug bar / thumb rest mounted on the lower treble side position. Heavier woods were used in later basses and other Fender instruments. This original case is also first issue.. see details below. This bass plays and sounds as it was designed to, being built alongside 72 Jazz and precision basses. Light and resonant. Collect, play and enjoy this at the same time. The original case has the early tan lining, same make as the later red lined cases, but is the first issue version.
This case shows wear chips and cracks approximate to the wear of the bass ..all three latches work. It looks its age. Please review all pictures as they are an important part of the description of this item. I believe the buyer will be very happy. NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING: eBay is defaulting to priority mail and I cannot seem to unselect it without starting this auction over. This bass will be shipped FedEx, NOT by priority mail, and for a flat rate shipping cost including good proper packing and insurance for $45 in the conus.
