Watkins Rapier 33 in good condition, 1960’s vintage electric guitar I love these old British guitars. The early ones had a set neck. This is probably from the 1963 as it has a bolt-on Maple neck and a fairly low 4-digit number. 5 digits came after 1964. The neck is in good shape. The action is low. The frets have plenty of life in them and the Rosewood fingerboard is in very good condition. This particular guitar retains the original pickups, scratch plate and switches. 2 of the control knobs have been changed. There are 2 tone controls and one volume control. There is a pickup on/off switch and Rhythm / Solo switch. Unusually, there is no lacquer cracking all over the body. The body has very light scratches on the top and bottom (but they are hard to see in the images), with 2 very small paint chips on one edge. There are couple of very small lacquer cracks either side of the neck pocket. They don’t extend more than 1 cm and are restricted to the surface. The chrome hardware has very light pitting. For a guitar of this age, it’s very good. It has the original tuners and buttons, together with the original Hi-Lo tremolo. It plays well, and gives out that 60’s Vibe.
