This is a Holton model B 47 trumpet (serial number 343564). The bore of the horn is ML at .459". The bell is 5". This model of trumpet was played by Renold Schilke during the 1950s. The engraving is crisp and clean. This horn looks very nice and plays very well. The valves have very good compression, show little wear and feel very mechanically sound, with no wiggle from side to side. The throw slides also function properly. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, there are a few small dings as well as scratching and light pitting over much of the instrument. there is also a very small brazed repair near the bell engraving. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now--if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This trumpet comes with a mouthpiece in good condition, and a Holton hardshell case in quite good condition.
