Stereo set of Neumann Solution D D-01 Digital Microphones with DMI–2 with 2 suspension cradles, cables and case in excellent condition. Have been used very lightly and this shows by their condition – see photos to see how well looked after they have been. These microphones sound truly amazing. Of course, I would say that so please don’t take my word for it. Read the reviews online for these microphones and listen to some recordings that these have been used on for examples. They are utterly transparent and so faithfully and articulately recreate 100% of the sound source – if there’s one downside it is that there is no room for bad mic technique or placement with these as they will pick up everything – no room to hide with your performance using these microphones! These microphones are often used in classical recordings therefore but I have used them on everything including drums, guitar, bass, vocals and others and they excel at everything. If you are looking for transparency then these are for you. The functionality of the RCS software is superb. It revolutionised the way I recorded having full control of the microphone including its dynamic, frequency polar pattern behaviour remotely from my audio workstation made recording truly slick. Using the RCS software the microphone can be controlled in the above terms (and more). These D-01 microphones are Neumann’s top of the range digital microphones so have full functionality in terms of all the possible control options from the RCS software. The other great thing about these microphones is they are economical. As they convert the last part of your signal chain into the digital realm. Whereas before the front end has always been analogue (microphone into preamp etc.) this changes this process. As the microphones are digital these negate the need for mic preamplifiers and AD converters as the sound is converted into digital at source. So, whilst the microphones may seem expensive on the surface, when you bear in mind you don’t need separate mic preamps and AD converters which by themselves costs thousands (if you want the appropriate quality) these microphones actually represent a saving from that perspective. Reviews are consistent in saying that the conversion of these microphones is the same quality as high-end standalone AD converters on the market. The DMI-2 is the hardware that allows your computer to interface between the RCS software and the microphones as well as receiving the digital audio from the mics in AES42 format and sending this to your audio workstation or the rest if your digital chain in digital format. New, the stereo sets will set you back at least £11,000. To buy a set with a single D-01 and DMI-2 is £8,000 new.  To buy one microphone by itself you are looking at least £4,200.
