Unbelievable Sound and Response! If you are looking for the crème de la crème of flutes then look no farther! This Verne Q Powell handmade flute is everything you've ever wanted in a flute! Unbelievable tone and response. It practically plays itself. Used by a pro player in many top orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera. But the most amazing thing about this handmade all original Powell serial number 24XX made c.1962 is that it has been impeccably cared for all these years and is still in beautiful condition.
This Powell is completely handmade from the best period of Boston flute making in history! All soldered tone holes, handmade pointed keys, open holes, C foot and an all original 14K gold lip plate with a 14K gold riser. Many of the pads are older and are discolored in places, but still cover perfectly. Since this flute has that "played in" and "seasoned" response, I feel it plays so well "as is" that it's better not to change the pads. This beautiful instrument displays many of the trade practices of old man Powell including solderfill in the G# tone hole and an extra large spring clutch in the right hand. There has been an after market donut installed as a high "E" facilitator. But that can be removed any time because its only lightly glued in place.
This incredible instrument has just been cleaned, oiled and adjusted. The sound is phenomenal! And can be played at A=440 and above with no effort.
A French B foot case with a vinyl case cover is included, as well as a wood cleaning stick and swab. Feel free to come visit or contact us if you have any questions.
