Fender Jag-Stang Sonic Blue A Serial CIJ (1997-98) Kurt Cobain Nirvana CIJHere is a cool Fender Jag-Stang in Sonic Blue. This is from the original sought after 1st run of Jagstangs by Fender in the mid 90’s. These were cancelled and a second run was then produced somewhere in the mid-2000’s. The Sonic Blue has aged over the decades to more of a Surf/Seafoam Green as it usually does. As you probably know, this was designed by Kurt Cobain, he wasn’t quite finished with the Jag-Stang design and he sadly passed away before his final changes could be drafted up for Fender. So Fender, being so overcome with grief & sadness just went ahead and released it anyway (oh ok they did it for the money). I like to think it’s pretty close to what he wanted though & that’s good enough for me. Kurt would be proud of this particular little grunge machine, as it has plenty Cobain’esque wear to it. If you are looking for a sterile shiny new guitar this ain’t for you. It’s a warrior. That said, all the important stuff in in place; neck dead straight, truss rod fine & plenty of life in the frets. She’s a great player too for a Jag-stang. She does have plenty of age related wear. Paint chips, sticker shadows that kind of stuff. She has at some point also had the strap pin moved a couple of cm’s on the upper horn and the control and volume knobs replaced with Tele style knobs. Still, she has heaps of mojo & looks like she has some stories to tell. No case, no trem arm. She looks kinda more Sonic Blue in a few pics, but the one ones where she looks greener are closer to her actual colour. She will come to you fully protected in a purpose designed shipping box so absolutely no harm will come to her during transit. A beautiful playing & very cool looking old grunge machine.
