Up for sale, a 1976 Fender Precision Bass in 100% original condition and in good working order. This vintage Fender is the perfect gigging workhorse, able to deliver rich and detailed punch or mellow low end thump. Weighing in at 11lbs 2oz, this P Bass has enough heft to have a particularly defined note attack and great sustain, attributes that are also due in part to the ash body and maple fretboard pairing. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Precision Bass is dialed in with optimal action and 45-105 roundwound strings. The neck has a round and chunky C shaped profile, with generous shoulders and a smooth gloss finish. The profile is a particularly big handful from frets 9 on up, and this is the sort of bass that allows you to really dig in without losing low end focus and clarity. The original frets are intact and medium jumbo in size, with plenty of life left and roundness on the crowns, currently showing only light, uniform wear beneath the A and D strings from frets 1-7 and virtually no wear further up the board. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the original Fender-branded tuners are intact, and while they are fairly stiff, we've recently lubed the gears and they hold pitch well. All of the original electronics are present, with gray bobbin pickups and CTS pots that date to the first weeks of 1976. The serial number on the F neck plate also indicates a late '75-early 1976 build, and the neck is one of the last CBS-era Fenders to have a date stamp code on the heel (although very faded). The stock bridge, "ashtray" cover, knurled metal knobs, thumb rest, and black pickguard are intact.Cosmetically, the body shows an assortment of small finish chips and scuffs around the body contours, as well as some wear on the chrome neck plate and light buckle rash on the back that doesn't penetrate the finish. The original sunburst finish is 100% original, with light fading, and a bit more red underneath the pickguard. The thumb rest position was also moved at one point in the instrument's life and there are two tiny extra mounting holes just north of the pickup. This is an honestly played vintage Fender Precision Bass with a great range of powerful and authoritative tones!
