This is a 1947 limited edition reissue Gibson Southern Jumbo Acoustic guitar in stunning condition. This guitar features beautiful, darkly stained Indian rosewood back and sides. The top is sitka spruce in historic sunburst. The neck is mahogany. The nut width is player-preferred 1 & 11/16" width and the scale length is the classic 24 & 3/4". The tuners are historic-style Kluson tuners with aged plastic knobs. There is beautiful cream binding around the bottom and top of the guitar body and the neck. The low profile C-shaped neck is perfectly straight, with just the right of amount of relief. The frets are in excellent condition with plenty of life left. The action is low and extremely fast. This guitar has had a Fishman Acoustic Matrix under-saddle pickup installed. A Gibson-appropriate TUSQ saddle was installed.A few things to note: there is some lacquer checking on the headstock and top of the guitar. This is purely cosmetic and very typical for a guitar with nitrocellulose lacquer. The strap button was moved from an offset position to the center of the heel. The screw hole has been filled in with color-appropriate wood putty. In order to accommodate the under-saddle pickup, small wood pieces were glued to the neck block to accommodate the 9V battery. The sound is balanced between treble and bass frequencies and very powerful when strummed. If you're in the market for a Southern Jumbo, I don't think you'll find a finer Gibson reissue example than this guitar - particularly when you look at the vintage appointments, beautiful binding and rare rosewood back and sides.
