2012 Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Gold Top If you have ever wanted to own a Gibson Les Paul guitar with the classic Gibson Custom split diamond headstock, and striking “black tie” good looks, here is your chance. Almost impossible to distinguish from an actual Les Paul Custom, the limited production and highly desirable Gibson Classic Custom with the Gibson Custom style split-diamond headstock gives the look and feel of a LP Custom, but with a fast slim taper 60's style neck profile. The 2012 Gibson Classic Custom has been very well maintained and has had very little play time, and both the frets and fingerboard show almost no signs of any use. The attractive Gold Top finish can be seen to retain the original luster, however it does show one small ding/dent about 3 inches below the tailpiece that can be seen in the photos, and there are a couple small scratches on the back that are so faint they do not appear in photos.  Otherwise, the guitar is in excellent condition with no other scratches, dings or dents. The slim taper 60’ profile neck feels great, and is in excellent shape and the guitar weighs a comfortable but solid 9.7 pounds. The guitar has just had a professional setup with a new set of D’ Addario light gauge nickel wound strings, and has excellent acoustic resonance. The action is set low to play fast and easy, however there is no annoying string buzz anywhere. The neck relief is right at the Gibson specification, and the intonation was set with a Peterson strobe tuner, and the guitar is in tune when playing open chords, or Barre chords anywhere on the fretboard The guitar has a nice set of Gibson ’57 classic humbucking pickups that many feel are an excellent choice for replicating the original “Patent Applied For” or PAF tone developed for Gibson by Seth Lover in 1957. The ‘57 Classic pickup in the neck position reads 7.85 Ohms resistance, while the slightly hotter ’57 Classic Plus in the bridge position reads 8.16 Ohms, and these pickups compliment each other very nicely. To my ears, this guitar provides a slightly cleaner tone than many of the Les Paul guitars with Burst bucker pickups. The guitar covers a wide range of tone and has a warm clean tone when played in the rhythm/neck position, and will also generate that distinctive crunchy Les Paul tone when adding a little over drive and playing in the lead/bridge position.  These limited edition guitars with the split diamond “Les Paul Custom” headstock have become highly desirable for their great Gibson Custom looks, and they are no longer in production and are becoming much more challenging to find. If this is that special guitar you have been looking for, now is your opportunity to get a great deal on an excellent guitar. The guitar will be carefully packed in the original hard shell case shown, and will be shipped via FEDEX ground in the 48 states. Please let me know if there are any questions, thanks for looking. From the Gibson website:   Les Paul Classic Custom When guitarist and inventor Les Paul conceived the Custom model in the mid-1950s, he envisioned it as a “black tie” guitar suitable for the most elegant occasions. In the years since then, the Les Paul Custom has come to represent all of that and more. The most dressed-up of the Les Paul production line, the Custom is nevertheless a full-bore rocker, suitable for the heaviest riffs you want to throw at it, while still excelling on the blues, jazz, pop or fusion stage. The Les Paul Classic Custom from Gibson USA stays true to its heritage, keeping the unique touches that make it stand out at a price players will appreciate. Featuring premium tonewoods and top-flight appointments, this is an instrument of astounding beauty and surprising versatility. With all the legendary power of the Les Paul Standard, and a Custom look that stands out from the crowd, the Les Paul Classic Custom is available in your choice of five stunning high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes: Antique Natural, Goldtop, Cream, Wine Red and Ebony Black, all with chrome-plated hardware for a look that is subtly elegant. As with the best Les Pauls crafted since the early ’50s, the Les Paul Classic Custom starts with the legendary tonewood pairing of a solid carved maple top glued to a mahogany body. Marrying maple’s clarity and definition to mahogany’s richness and depth produces a tonal complexity that no single-wood guitar has ever matched. Its resonance and sustain are only further enhanced by the deep-set quarter-sawn mahogany neck with 17-degree back-angled headstock. Optimum playability is ensured by a slim, comfortable neck profile that measures .800” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The guitar’s 22-fret fingerboard is made from Baked Maple, a heat-treated hardwood that offers a clear tone and extreme durability, and inlaid with acrylic block markers, enhanced by a mother of pearl Gibson headstock logo and acrylic split-diamond inlay. To ensure that all of these constructional features translate to the purest, richest tone possible, Gibson loads the Les Paul Classic Custom with a pair of '57 Classic humbucking pickups, routed through the traditional four-knob and three-way switch control section. Made with genuine Alnico II magnets and wound with enamel-coated 42-AWG wire just like the hallowed PAF pickups of the late 1950s and early '60s, the '57 Classics yield creamy warm tones in the neck position and plenty of growl and snarl in the bridge, with funky, round tones in between. A pairing of Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and accurate intonation, while a set of premium Grover kidney-button tuners make tune-up a breeze.   Body
