Fretless Open Back Banjo Civil War Reenactment possibility
Estimated price for orientation: 575 $
Category: Banjos
Class:
Description Body Style: Open Back Number of Strings: 5
5 string fretless Open back banjo, seller built, 2011. Neck and pot are Peruvian Walnut; Sepele heel and dowel (maker's name stamped on dowel). Ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. Large 13" pot, approx 25" scale. Custom ebony bridge, goatskin head-brand new, new nylgut strings. Peghed mechanical/geared faux friction pegs. This is the first banjo i built, and thus has some cosmetic flaws (2 patches on the neck where the wood tore out in shaping and chips on side edge of fingerboard.). Rubbed tung oil varnish. I just dismantled it, added a few coats of varnish, reset it all; to sell. It was built to mimic Civil War era banjos; it would be great for reenactors. Msg me e mail if you want a video/sound sample. Large pot=deep old time sound (no tone ring). Obviously it has its flaws, as mentioned, but a cool banjo nonetheless. U.S. buyers only.
