Vox Berkeley II Amp V1081 with V4081 Speaker Cabinet – Vintage ‘60’s
Estimated price for orientation: 629 $
Category: Guitar Amplifiers
Class:
Description Brand: Vox Exact Year: 1966 Model: V1081 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States UPC: Does not apply
This auction includes: amp head, speaker cabinet and ¼” plug amp/speaker connect cable. It’s all-original in very good functional and good cosmetic condition given its age. It sounds great. Amplifier The electronics are all original. The amp has been tested and everything is in good working condition. The bass, treble, and volume controls function correctly, with little or no static. The reverb is strong (Surf music was popular when the Berkeley was introduced). The tremolo speed and depth both work fine. The MRB (Mid-Range Boost), which is actuated from the footswitch, works very well. (3 button footswitch is not included). The AC cord has been replaced with a three-wire plug and cord with ground for safety. Speaker Cabinet The speaker cabinet has one original 10” Celestion speaker and one Eminence 10” speaker with a date code of 1971 / 45th week. Someone added a 1/4” jack to the speaker cabinet to allow for connection to the amp with a standard ¼” phone jack cable (included). The 3pin cannon plug speaker jacks on both the amp and cabinet work, in case you want to use an original VOX speaker cable. Both the amp and speaker cabinets and grill cloth are in good condition given their age, with scratches and dings from being on the road (see pictures). The plastic corners are all there and in good condition on both (a rarity!). On the amp, the gold piping has good color, on the cabinet it’s a bit ragged. There is some yellowing of the white piping. This amp is a nice piece and getting hard to find! Most importantly – It sounds great!! The solid state Vox electronic designs from the ‘60’s Thomas Organ era use an inter-stage transformer that gives a tube-like distortion and compression to the sound. Because it is ½ century old and vintage, it is sold as-is. The pictures of the amplifier are of what is being sold. It will be shipped in two separate boxes via USPS priority mail. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
