This is a beautiful Historic Select 1959 Les Paul from the Gibson Custom Shop.  The hand selected maple top features a Book-End Flame pairing in Southern Fade Burst.  This '59 reissue was made in late 2015 and comes in MINT condition as it has been barely played (bedroom only).  It comes with Grover tuners originally installed, real mother-of-pearl inlays, and a decent size neck, at 0.930 (1st fret) and 0.102 (12th fret).  Nevertheless, it is a very light 8.37 lbs (8 lbs 6 oz). The light mahogany tone-wood body paired with the thicker neck gives this guitar amazing sustain, and somewhat surprisingly (since it is so light) a distinctive deep growl on the low end.  The mids and highs have a lot of presence as well.  Again, with a lot of sustain.  The rosewood fretboard seems harder and dryer than others I have seen, which seems to give the notes a really nice open response.  Maybe this is due to the True Historic style of preparing these Historic Selects, which does include hand rolled binding, double carved maple top, and hand wet sanding.Essentially this Historic Select '59(HS 9) is a True Historic '59  with the added features of Book-End Flame Top, Grover Tuners and Mother-of-Pearl inlays.
