Make an offer! Here I have a 1966 Fender Tremolux with blonde tolex, wheat grill, and black face circuit AB763 serial number A 04908.I know what you're thinking, "You idiot, they didn't make blonde amps in 66 so this has been modded or you're just stupid"SO, here's the story:I'd picked up the amp about a year ago in a trade, cleaned it up a little and thought "sweet, a 63/64 tremolux" as the blonde tolex and black face would suggest that it was made during the transition to blackface amps. The circuit number A763 also seemed to confirm my thoughts on this. Fast forward to a month ago. I blew a fuse in the amp so I took it into my amp tech, Casey Gooby, for repair. He called me asking me to tell him everything I knew about the amp because he'd never seen one like this before. He began telling me that all the transformer codes and pot codes would date the amp to 66, also the fact that the tube layout chart was stamped with green ink (which Fender didn't begin doing until January of 66). Also that on the front panel it says "Fender Musical Instruments" instead of the pre-CBS "Fender Elect. Inst. Co" Also the serial number A 04908 would date the amp to about 1965. Furthermore he told me that everthing looks stock, nothing led him to believe in any way that the amp had been re-tolexed or modded. Here is the email he sent me after looking at this amp:Hey Dan,I’ve been repairing amps for over 20 years and old Fender amps are mainly what I see, but this 1966 Fender Tremolux has thrown me a curve. The chassis, transformers, pots all date 1966. The cab is the kicker- rough blonde with wheat grill , which would point toward early 60’s but the tube chart doesn’t lie - dated Jan. of 66 and the cab has not been recovered. A rare one off and very cool amp!- Casey_____________________________ Believe it or not, up to you, but there is the professional opinion of someone working on amps old Fender amps for decades. I've emailed Fender with questions about the amp, but never heard back, its NAMM and they probably have better things to do anyway. Here you have it. A fully functional odd ball vintage Fender Tremolux. Physically this amp shows normal signs of wear and tear for a 51 year old amp, but still looks great none the less. Comes with non original footswitch. Feel free to message with any questions. Open to reasonable offers. Thanks for looking!Check out Casey's website: caseygooby.com
