This is a 1962 Gibson J45 with Cherry Sunburst finish and adjustable bridge. I bought it from the original owner when he was retiring and Florida bound. He called me over to his car one morning when I arrived at work. He knew I played guitar in local bands ( I was only 20 at the time) and said he found this guitar he had bought 10 years ago when he was cleaning out the attic of his farmhouse. He had taken lessons for awhile and then abandoned that idea and put the guitar away. I gave Benny the price he asked and was in love with the guitar. The original literature for the guitar and the bill of sale were in the alligator looking cardboard case. He bought the instrument from Pizatola Music in Holyoke, MA. where I took lessons for some years while in high school.
On the way home after work I stopped by at Pizatola's and bought a good hardshell case for the guitar. Bob, the proprietor recognized the guitar and told me who bought it and when.
The only changes that were made to this guitar involved the shoulder strap pegs. The peg on the rear of the box is made by Barcus Berry who made internal transducers or microphones for acoustic instruments. The peg has a hole through the center for a cable so you don't have to deal with the guitar cord coming out of the center hole. I also had a peg installed near the neck base because I hated playing with a strap tied around the neck in the nut area.
This guitar has very little in the way of surface blemishes as you may see from the pictures. There are a few finish crack lines in the laquer behind the bridge and a few slight scratches.
Hardshell case with key included.
It is now my turn to retire into the southern sunset.
