Up for sale, a 2006 Taylor T5-C2 Custom acoustic electric guitar in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. Not only is this one of the cleanest T5 models currently on the used market, it easily boasts one of the most breathtaking Hawaiian Koa tops. The book-matched tiger flame is rich and consistent across the entire top, with great depth and subtle variations in the figuring, highlighted by the shaded edge burst finish. The gold hardware and premium top set this T5 apart as the top-tier version of this model, and features such as the ebony fretboard and bridge, as well as the hand carved bone nut and saddle show that Taylor spared no expense in crafting this unique instrument.
Inspired by the silhouette of the Taylor Grand Auditorium body shape, the T5 features a sleek and comfortable-to-hold carved hollowbody of sapele, and a svelte neck of tropical American mahogany. A 25" scale length ensures a fingerboard that is endlessly pleasurable to play with either electric or acoustic strings. Like all Taylor guitars, a custom voiced soundboard is the heart of the T5 tone, and the Koa top creates a strong, colorful voice with outrageous sustain and the complex midrange for which the tonewood is famous. Finally, sexy and stylized f-holes command the eye and enhance the resonance of the T5 body chamber, allowing the top to breathe and capture the dynamics of a player's performance. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and weighing a mere 5lbs 14oz, This T5 is dialed in with optimal action and fresh 10-46 strings. The neck has a quintessential medium C profile with pristine white binding, ebony fretboard, and frets that show virtually no wear. The guitar plays effortlessly with solid intonation, and the raw acoustic tone of this guitar is quite rich and pleasing before you even plug it in! As Taylor has boasted since this guitar's introduction, the T5 allows you to get fully acoustic sounds and fully electric sounds from the same guitar. It's designed to be used with both acoustic and electric amps via a standard mono 1/4" guitar cable or a balanced cable. The T5's pickup compliment includes a three-pickup setup featuring an acoustic body sensor, a concealed neck humbucker, and a visible bridge humbucker, plus five-way switching and onboard tone controls. The five-way switch is located on the bass side upper bout for easy access, and below is a breakdown of the pickup options available to the player:T5 CMR air-coil rear pickup - this is the pickup you can see coming through the top near the bridge of the guitar. When played through an electric amp, this pickup can go from Tele-like twang to Gretsch-like midrange complexity to full-blown humbucker girth.T5 Dynamic neck pickup - buried in the neck joint, this pickup can sound warm and woody or fat and rowdy.T5 Dynamic body sensor - inspired by the research on the Expression System, the T5 body sensors are overwound to produce the sparkling highs and shimmer for the most acoustic-like switch position.T5 Preamp and EQ - the preamp was designed to deliver a wide range of tones in every switch position. Controls include: Volume, Bass and Treble. The tone controls are best described as Resonance (bass) and Detail (treble).Cosmetically, this T5 has been extremely well cared for since it was new, with barely a scratch on it and only one tiny nick on the neck profile behind the 10th fret that doesn't affect playability in the slightest. Otherwise, this guitar is clean as can be, and you could easily find guitars with more wear being sold for "new" on the showroom floor. The original hardshell case is included.
