With his glam-rock looks and rock'n'roll hooks, Marc Bolan led his band T. Rex from their psychedelic folk roots as Tyrannosaurus Rex to mega stardom in the late '60s and early '70s. His customized Gibson Les Paul was the rocket fuel that propelled them to the stars. Bolan's star burned out far too soon when he died in a car accident in Southwest London in 1977 shortly before his 30th birthday, but his music and its influence have remained strong over the intervening decades. This detailed Marc Bolan Les Paul Gibson Custom Shop recreation is the spitting image of the iconic original of the much-modified Les Paul that accompanied Bolan throughout the height of his career. With its replacement, Custom Model neck and headstock (added to Bolan's late-'50s Les Paul when its original neck was broken in the early '70s), un-covered humbucking pickups including zebra-coil neck unit, and stripped "Bolan Chablis" finish, replicating the colour tone of his hero, Eddie Cochran's guitar. This guitar is in virtually unused condition and is not only very collectable, but a fine player with great action that nails the meaty, rich tone of its legendary inspiration and is period-correct in design and construction, with accurate PAF-style humbucking pickups. Included is an Artist Model Certificate of Authenticity, a plush-lined hardshell case with a stencilled Bolan signature, a vintage replica guitar strap, and warranty literature.This Limited Edition Gibson Custom Shop Aged Marc Bolan Les Paul is No. 45 out of a run of 100 .
