Although a very similar shape (though a little smaller), and with identicle controls, being a solidbody rather than a semi-acoustic guitar, gave this model a rather different sound. The 335-S came in 3 varieties...1... 335-S Deluxe Mahogany body and neck, bound ebony fingerboard and pearl inlaid headstock.2... 335-S Custom Mahogany body and neck, unbound rosewood fingerboard.3... 335-S Standard Maple body and neck, unbound rosewood fingerboard. All models were fitted with2 Humbucking pickups and 2 volume controls The pickups in the Deluxe and Custom were Gibson's "Dirty Fingers", with a COIL-TAP switch, to allow a single coil mode, while the Standard had Gibson SuperHumbuckers with no coil-tap facility. All 3 versions were introduced in the mid-80's. The Custom and Standard were deleted in 1981. The Deluxe was deleted by the beginning of 1983.In 2011, Gibson reissued the 335-S with specifications similar to the 335-S Standard, but with one tone control and Gibson Burstbucker pickups.* The Kahler Tremolo System is an electric guitar bridge with a cam operated vibrato arm system. It was invented in 1979 by Gary Kahler and Dave Storey. They shifted their business model but are back to bridge manufacturing as of April 2005. * This Kahler-Floyd Rose, is a full floating bridge. The Floyd Rose Tremolo rose to popularity in the early 1980s. Many popular artists quickly adopted the device, making it difficult to measure how much each individual artist contributed to that popularity. Most sources consider Eddie Van Halen a pioneer of Floyd Rose usage. Other players frequently cited as influential Floyd Rose users are Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Kirk Hammett, Brad Gillis, Tom Morello, Allan Holdsworth, and Dimebag Darrell.Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all!
