1962 Fender Rhodes Piano Bass Blonde Fiesta Red Pre-CBS Tuned & Voiced Rare!

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Rhodes "Pre-CBS" Piano Bass in excellent condition and in good working order. This is one of Fender's very first Rhodes produced under the Fender name and boasts the square tone bars, rosewood cheek blocks, polished name rail and super cool Fiesta Red top, all features which are unique to this early model. The stunning combination of rough blonde tolex paired with the Fiesta Red top is easily one of the most desirable cosmetic combinations for any Rhodes, and it's exactly how these pianos were first advertised in the '62 Fender catalog! This Rhodes has been thoroughly serviced here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we have professionally tuned and voiced the piano, cleaned the key bed, sprayed out the pots and made sure that this Rhodes is 100% ready for the stage or studio.The early Rhodes Piano Basses have a raw and bell-like tone that sets them apart from the later '60s "Sparkle Tops" with more gain when the volume knob is dimed and a resonance from the early square tone bars that is unmatched. The original key bushings are still nice and tight, moving smoothly and evenly without being sluggish or having any side to side motion. The hammers and damper felts are also still in great shape, showing only minor indentations and still performing their functions well. All of the original Raymac tines and square tone bars are present too. The tines have a clear, balanced sound and the harp is very clean with virtually no rust. The Volume and Tone pots are modern replacements, while the stock ceramic disc tone caps and original cloth covered wire is intact. The cream pointer knobs are original.The base of the Piano Bass is a replacement fabricated long ago, and recently retolexed by our staff here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar to compliment the original Fiesta Red top. The top is the original fairly glossy Fiesta Red fiberglass, which shows only a few light scratches on the top and wear along the front edges. The polished rosewood cheek blocks are in good overall condition and the faceplate has been polished (a process that removed the "Fender Rhodes" waterslide decal before this Piano Bass came into our possession).This Rhodes is a real beauty, extremely rare in any condition and tonally everything a great Rhodes should be!
