I’m offering my Yamaha YFL-481 sterling silver flute for auction. I’ve played this baby professionally for many years and it’s always been a joy. This was a step-up instrument from my beginner flute, and I think it would be ideal for someone else who also wants to graduate from their first flute. Indeed, Yamaha marketed this flute as an “intermediate” model. One thing you get with this flute is a C-foot. Not everyone getting a step-up instrument wants or even needs a low B. But these days it’s almost impossible to find a non-beginner flute with a C-foot.  481 to the rescue! This flute features a solid-silver headjoint and body, with silver-plated keys. Some years ago I met Jonathon Landell, who makes flutes by hand for players around the world. Jonathon did some custom work on this flute’s lip plate, resulting in an even more pure and resonant sound. Also included are a rounded hard case; a handsome leather case cover with handles; and a cleaning rod. I also am enclosing plastic inserts for the open holes, in case this would be your first open-hole flute. Removing the inserts one by one is the ideal way to gradually become accustomed to the open holes. This flute was recently appraised at $1100.  I’m looking forward to seeing my 481 move on to a new home. Good luck and happy bidding!
