THIS BEAUTIFUL BANJO WAS MADE BY SYDNEY YOUNG FOR OLIVER LUND,COLNE,LANCASHIRE,WHO RAN A BANJO ACADEMY THERE......SYDNEY YOUNG WORKED FOR CAMMEYER AND DESIGNED THE TOP OF THE RANGE "NEW ERA" BANJO'S.......I HAVE OWNED THIS BANJO FOR 26 YEARS AND THE TONE IS EXQUISITE........I RECORDED ONE OF MY CD'S PLAYING THIS INSTRUMENT....THE SERIAL NO 101 APPEARS ON THE RIM STICK AND AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PEGHEAD.....PLEASE NOTE THE STEPPED BONE NUT WHICH IS CLASSIC SYDNEY YOUNG......ALL THE TUNERS ARE ORIGINAL HAVING BONE BUTTONS AND THE PEGHEAD TUNERS ARE ALL STAMPED LUND.....THE STRAIGHT MAHOGANY NECK IS A WORK OF ART AND SO EASY TO PLAY....THE POT IS WALNUT WITH AN 11 INCH DIAMETER FROSTED HEAD......THE POT IS FITTED WITH A ROLLED BRASS TONE RING......SHE HAS BRAND NEW STRINGS AND A GROVER BRIDGE.......THERE IS NO CASE BUT I WILL PACK HER VERY CAREFULLY......THERE IS SLIGHT WEAR ON THE FIRST 3 FRETS WHICH DOES NOT AFFECT THE INTONATION, AND THERE IS ALSO SOME INDENTATION ON THE FINGERBOARD AROUND THE SAME AREA......THE SCALE LENGTH IS 26 3/4 INCHES......THIS BANJO IS A RARE AND BEAUTIFULLY MADE INSTRUMENT.......GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!
