2008 Rickenbacker 660 / 12
I am the original owner of this guitar.   This was one of my bucket list guitars and has only seen use in my non-smoking, home studio.  Before my hands started to give me problems it was my favorite guitar of all time.The 660/12 is best known as the basis for the Tom Petty model, I think the midnight blue metallic & gold is a nicer finish myself.It plays as you would expect a Rickenbacker to play, with a touch of compression the jangle goes on for days!The wider 1 3/4 neck makes it very easy to make all chord shapes.
This is a light guitar at 7 lbs 10 oz, very easy to play for hours on end.The original hard shell case and all the case candy are included.There is a light scratch on the headstock which does not appear to go all the way through the finish, I set my light to make it stand out so you can clearly see it.  I have been told it would be very easy to polish out.  There are also three "dings" each about the size of a pin head, on the very top of the headstock, these do look to go all the way down to the paint and will require a touch up, the luthier I use said they will be easy to fix once you get the touchup paint from Rickenbacker.  I did not want to touch them so you see the real condition of the guitar you are getting. ( Please excuse the dust in the pictures, my camera captures everything! )I am thinning out the herd and I would like to see this guitar go to someone who will appreciate it.The Model 660 and 660/12 feature a charactered maple cutaway body based on an innovative design from the 1950's. A Rosewood fingerboard is punctuated beautifully with triangular pearloid inlay markers, while the maple double bound neck and body are solid through and through. Rickenbacker's trademark "checkered" black and white binding set off the body, while white binding graces the neck. The 660 is electronically engineered to the exacting standards of the vintage reissue series, complete with Rickenbacker's own Vintage Single Coil Toaster Top™ pickups.
