Here's The Run Down: This is A Very Cool & Clean Vintage 1929 Gibson A4 Mandolin that came straight out of the original owners closet to this listing! This mandolin is repair free and cosmetically really nice for a 85+ year old instrument (see pics). There will be marks, scuffs, scratches and checking here and there, but better than you would expect of a used, played and vintage instrument (see pics). I tried to take really good pics, so you can judge for yourself (see pics). There are NO breaks, repairs or damage that I can find. The only 2 notable flaws I can see is the rear binding has pulled away from the body in the contours (not broken) and a hairline crack down the upper side that does not move and can barely be seen from the inside. I do not feel its in need of repair and its completely stable. No attempt of repair was ever made for these mentioned issues. This Vintage Gibson A4 appears to be all original with the exception of some kind of vintage round/black pickup inside under the bridge. No mods were made for this, as it is stuck up under the top (no screws) and the weird output jack is in the spot for the strap button (not present). I'm not sure if the pickup operates, because I don't have the proper cable, but I'm sure its pretty rare and has a value in itself. The mandolin's finish was professionally black lighted and is 100% original. The back of the neck and head stock are in very good shape with minor wear (pictured). There is only mild fret wear, the neck is straight and the truss rod operates as it should. If your looking for a Vintage A4 Mandolin that's untouched and plays/sounds great, this is the one you have been waiting for!This Vintage The Gibson Mandolin is very playable as it sits and sounds amazing, but new strings will be in order. The current string height is 3/32" on the body, 1/16" middle and 1/32" at the first fret with the un modified bridge at its lowest setting. It could easily be altered if a lower string height is desired at the body. If your not happy with its set up, it will be your responsibility and cost to have it set up to your liking. The Included Original Hard Case is in very good condition for a very old case. All latches, hinges, interior door and handle operate as they should without issue. It will have marks and/or scuffs here or there from moving it around and age, but still a great case. Everything operates as it should, and has never had, nor does it have any breaks or repairs unless noted above.
