Description
ARP Omni 2 SynthesizerProfessionally restoredFor sale is an ARP Omni 2 synthesizer. This unit has been fully restored and has a few upgrades. The unit has lighted LED sliders, 3 LFO waveforms, aftertouch, and mahogany wood sides. It is in great condition electronically. The panel has a few scratches from its previous life, mostly on the top of the unit (from where somebody had another keyboard sitting on it). This has been repainted using flat black. I tried to capture that in the photos. The sliders are orange and white, as are the 5mm round indicator LEDs over the selector buttons, which matches the panel. The LED colors are very difficult to capture in photos. The actual color is much more vivid when you're actually looking at the synth. In photos, it can appear that the white sliders are brighter than the rest. (They aren't) Below is a list of the work that's been done on this unit. The original power supply has been replaced with a new Power-One linear supply. All polarized capacitors, opamps, CMOS ICs, and many transistors have been replaced. All gating/envelope caps (one on each note + 1 for each note of bass section) replaced with electrolytic capacitors. All other polarized caps replaced with tantalums. The old ARP CTS sliders have been replaced with LED sliders. Slider brightness is adjustable on all sliders. LFO AMOUNT and LFO RATE sliders pulse at the rate of the LFO. The LED sliders run off of their own 5V supply. The keyboard mechanism has been rebuilt. All key bushings have been replaced, all key contact PCB standoffs replaced, aftertouch added to the keybed, all contacts cleaned, busbars polished. 4075 VCF has been recapped, and a resistor value error made by the original designers has been corrected, to allow full VCF bandwidth.Resonance range of VCF has been increased to allow self oscillation. This opens up a lot of sonic options for using the sample & hold LFO wave form. This also allows for 8' and 4' synth waves to be deactivated, and the VCF sine wave (from self-oscillation) to be layered over the strings. LFO upgraded to have square and sample & hold (random) waveforms, as well as the original sine wave. Waveform selection controlled from a single 3-position switch. Mahogany sides added to replace worn leather sides.Aftertouch on the keyboard is routed to VCF frequency. The PEDAL & ACC. slider controls how much the aftertouch affects the filter. Pedal and Acc. jacks still retain original functionality.New orange and white 5mm LEDs added over buttons. 5mm LEDs were selected to match color of the amber and natural white LEDs in the sliders.Below is a video featuring this Omni 2. The video also demonstrates the capability of the LFO daughterboard. This is a beautiful OMNI, capable of an array of sounds that a stock OMNI is not. It looks beautiful as well! I have more pictures available. Ebay will only let me post 12. If you are interested in seeing more, please contact me. Please discuss shipping with me before you pay. The Ebay shipping calculator will not be correct. This unit must be well packed (double boxed) with 3" of foam between each layer. I have shipped many synths and always pack well. LFO Expander Kits can be purchased from my Ebay store. This mod is easy to do on any ARP Omni 1, Omni2, Axxe, Avatar, Odyssey, or Quadra.
