Olds Trumpet - Make An Offer!!Here’s a wonderful 1959 vintage F.E. Olds Special model L-10 trumpet outfit complete with mouthpiece and original Olds hardshell case. This horn has a 3-tone brass-nickel-copper finish. The bell flare is copper (rose brass) and the rest of the bell is solid nickel. The original lacquer finish on this horn shows a good deal of wear but has that cool desirable vintage look. I'd say the original lacquer finish is approx. 60-70% intact in my estimation (please see photographs). Some other features are an adjustable 3rd slide ring, mother-of-pearl finger button inserts, and lever style water keys. This trumpet was designed to be an advanced model trumpet and it was made in the USA by the F.E. Olds company. Serial number is 338XXX indicating that it was manufactured in 1959 (or possibly very early 1960) when quality was top notch at the Olds plant. This trumpet has nice smoothly operating valves (valve springs were recently replaced). The slides are all smooth and have just been lubricated. The valve slides all make a nice "pop" when pulled. Bell is engraved "OLDS SPECIAL F.E. OLDS & SON FULLERTON CALIF." with a nice ribbon pattern. There are no major dents, just a few smaller dents and dings from normal use and age. There is some light scarring in the bell flare where dents were removed by the previous owner. Bell is straight and all joints are intact. This horn is 100% complete and plays great as you would expect from a late 1950s / early 1960s vintage Olds, it's very freeblowing with a rich beautiful tone. This is a medium-large bore horn. Original OLDS woodshell plush-lined case included which is in solid condition despite showing a good deal of wear and tear (and missing trim) on the exterior. Latches on the case still work but are no longer springy. The case has a double mouthpiece slot, side accessory storage area, smaller accessory compartment, and a sturdy handle. This Olds case is the original and still provides good hard-shelled protection for the horn. Also included is a mouthpiece so you can start playing this trumpet instantly.
