1970 Benjamin F Harrison Violin. One Owner. Excellent Condition. With Paperwork.

Offered here is a beautiful, one owner, listed maker violin. The violin was crafted by Benjamin H. Harrison in Berkley Michigan. The label is marked Benjamin H Harrison Berkley Michigan USA No 370 - 1970. The volin is in very good - excellent condition. Only a few minor finish nicks at the bridge and tail (as pictured), the back bottom seam looks to have been re-glued starting at the button going right about one inch. The G string looks like it needs to be replaced. The bridge is marked Harrison. The case is an oblong Winter and is in good-very good condition with a few minor nicks to the outside. The bow is marked Germany and is in very good condition, I am unsure if its the Gotz bow named in the bill of sale. It comes with the originally purchased humidifier, pitch pipe, tuning fork and rosin.The condition of this violin leads me to believe that it was not played much, but was well maintained. I believe it to have been stored for several years but see no cracks or open seams. Along with the bill of sale I have a letter of thank you for purchase with a warrantee offer as well as a copy of the receipt for a Gotz bow and the Winter case. The bill of sale is dated August 26, 1983 and states the following:
This is to certify that the violin described hereon was made by me in the year of 1970 and was sold to "BM" as its original owner. Description is as follows:
Length of corpus =14 3/16; Upper bout width= 6 5/8; Center bout width=4 1/2; Lower bout width=8 1/16; Stop=7 9/16; String length= 12 15/16. All dimensions are in inches.
The pattern is of my own design not a copy of another maker.
The back is of two piece german maple, well flamed.
The to is of two piece spruce with a narrow and even grain. The F holes are of a Strad pattern, with unfitted wings.
The scroll is of a Strad type with medium depth flushing. There is a small compass nick in the center of the eye.
The varnish is oil based and of a golden amber/brown color.
My label, printed in capitol letters, number 370 and dated 1970.

The bow: A Gotz brazil wood with ebony frog at 175.00Harrison is listed in the Directory of Contemporary American Musical Instrument Makers. He was well respected for his design and received recognition for his builds. It is unique that Mr. Harrison was totally deaf having lost his hearing in World War II. Prior to that he was an excellent musician. He would tune the different parts of his violins by using a tuning fork and feeling the vibrations of though the wood with his fingertips. I purchased the violin from the original owner to offer it to someone who is looking for a unique, well made instrument.
