IntroductionAs someone who has spent the past 10 years going down the gear "rabbit hole"with regards to high-end guitars (Black Water/Mayones/Suhr/Skervesen/etc.), this instrument represents the very pinnacle of craftsmanship in luthiery. I don't say that lightly, or without acknowledging the significant amount of hype that surrounds VIK Guitars. While this discourse has largely concerned VIK Guitars' personal worldview and the subsequent denouncement of his words, that does not take away ANYTHING from the simple truth that his creations are the "end all, be all" in the guitar world.
Aesthetic DesignCase and point is this brand new, virtually unplayed Duality 7, an instrument made even more rare with the "GT" designation which is embodied through the curly walnut/figured rosewood stripe proceeding through the 10 years air dried (confirmed via VIK), robust master grade flamed maple top (so robust that the pickup routes are solely crafted through the top wood - I've never seen anything like it). The aesthetic theme of this instrument is something to be appreciated - golden, master grade flamed maple on the top and back (6mm on the back); a lightweight cut of black limba stained dark brown to match the incredibly fast playing true indian rosewood neck with more matching master grade flamed maple running down the center.
Additionally, you have master grade flamed maple binding that perfectly lines a smooth true indian rosewood fretboard. I think the most underrated detail of this guitar's design is a very thin nitro finish that is applied to all aspects of the guitar (even the master grade flamed maple binding) except for the playing portion of the neck and fretboard. Every detail - right down to the rosewood/flamed maple pickup bobbins and accent hits of black on the knobs and VIK headstock signature - screams quality. And I haven't even mentioned the multi-ply, wooden laminates that create the headstock veneer - it's mind blowing, the attention to detail on this guitar.Playability With all that being said, the most impressive aspect is the playability. When I picked her up for the first time, I was more cognizant of the musical ideas running through my head than I was of the guitar, itself. Put another way, this guitar felt as a natural, organic extension of myself rather than just a tool. This facilitated my ability to focus on the music, so to speak. I did not think anything could trump the aesthetics of this instrument, but the fact that its playability is out of this world makes me think twice about putting this up for sale.SpecificationsStrings - 7Scale - 25.5Radius - Compound 14 - 22Frets - 24 SS medium Design - set-in neckTop - >1 inch thick, 10 years air-dried, master grade flamed maple topBack - 6mm master grade flamed maple with matching cavity coverBody - lightweight black limba body stained dark brownNeck/Fretboard - true indian rosewood (master grade flamed maple stripe)Binding - master grade flamed mapleInlays - 6mm abalone fisheyes with green luminlay centers & side dotsBridge - hipshotTuners - gotoh 510 lockingPickups - vikups Controls - volume/tone (push-pull coil split)/3-way toggleStrap Locks - dunlop flush mountFinish - thin nitro/satin on neck & fretboardCase - hiscox With all that being said, why are you selling? And are you legit?Simply put, I am a 25 year-old working professional who cannot justify owning so many high-end guitars at the same time. This fact combined with my next level GAS is why I regularly sell guitars, even ones as special as this. Because of this, however, I do have an extensive knowledge/possess a very practical understanding of customer service, working with individuals (especially buyers of high-end guitars), and ensuring that all parties are satisfied. I have numerous references through established groups, such as the Gear Porn Guitar Exchange on Facebook and the Seven String forum. As stated in my page bio, I've successfully sold multiple, 4k + guitars such as Black Waters, Skervesen, Mayones, etc. with 100% feedback (even through eBay & Reverb). I'm also very open to working with prospective buyers by offering a number of services including: phone/skype chats regarding instruments for sale, videos of the product, itself, along with documentation of how I will package and ship all products. Especially at the price point of a VIK, I know these services will help to satisfy prospective buyers, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
