Up for sale, a 2016 Gibson Firebird V '65 reissue in near mint condition and in perfect working order. This limited edition custom color model has been discontinued and was a special run exclusive to Musicians Friend for '16. Boasting both mini Grover tuning machines and a long frame Maestro Lyre Vibrola, this guitar has excellent tuning stability and the added functionality of a vibrato unit that works well for expressive shakes and warbles. Few Gibson finishes look more "right" than a gloss nitro lacquer Pelham Blue on a Firebird, and this particular 'Bird has the tone to match its good looks. Powerful, chimey, and wound particularly hot, the pickups have a distinct tonal character that sets them apart from a traditional mini humbucker. Whether you're looking for detailed cleans or saturated overdriven tones, the mahogany/walnut construction of this Firebird and the top notch pickups help you achieve tones applicable to a wide range of genres. Weighing in at 8lbs 4oz, the guitar is easy on the back and balances fairly well on a strap, with the neck heavy tendencies found with most Firebirds minimized by the lightweight tuners. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Firebird with fresh 10-46 strings and low action. The neck features a medium C shape profile, with bound rosewood fretboard inlaid with pearloid trapezoids. The frets are virtually unplayed with perfectly rounded crowns, and the guitar conforms to vintage Gibson spec with a 1 11/16" nut width and 24 3/4" scale. On the headstock, the mini Grover tuners turn very smoothly, and the black truss rod cover with "Gibson" silkscreened logo tops things off.All of the electronics work as they should, the chrome hardware is flawless, and the Lyre Vibrola is both undeniably cool visually and a unit that cements the '65 reissue look while being highly usable (not every vibrato can make this claim). Cosmetically, the guitar is showroom clean with barely a scratch on it, and we'll conservatively call it near mint.
The original brown tolex Gibson hardshell case with plush pink interior is included, along with all of the factory paperwork, unopened polish cloth, and allen wrench.
