Offered is a left handed 1994 Heritage H-157 with a black finish, ebony fretboard, triple binding and gold hardware. This is the Heritage version of a Les Paul Custom. Except for the white pick guard, I guess this would classify as a Black Beauty. If you are looking at this listing, you likely know how great Heritage guitars are, so I will spare you the story. I have had this guitar for 18 years, and it has been very well treated. It does have a little mileage on it, however, and it is certainly not a case queen. That is not to say there are major condition or cosmetic issues, but it does show light, age appropriate wear of a guitar that has not spent it’s life underneath a bed. I would say it rates in “Very Good - Excellent” territory, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I have tried to take photos of all the cosmetic issues so there are no surprises. They are as follows-Fret wear - There is some normal, overall fret wear as one would expect from a 23 year old guitar. It can mostly be seen on the top three frets, as per usual. I suspect a fret dressing would completely cure it and there appears to be a lot of meat left of the frets. Again, not an expert. I have never had any issues with buzzing or dead spots however. As with any used guitar, it will need to be adjusted and set-up according to player preference.Cosmetics - The body is nice and clean. There are some light buckle marks on the back, nothing through the finish. (I have always tried to be mindful of this) The top face looks great as well, with a small dimple from a ding that was drop filled with lacquer years go. Not super prominent, but it is there. There is also a superficial, whitish colored mark or scrape on the side. Otherwise, the finish shows some general light scratches and swirling from having been cleaned/wiped down over the years. I was not able to get any good pics of this as they are pretty light. Probably nothing that could not be buffed out if it bugged you. It is a black finish after all, so it tends to show everything when viewed in certain light. The top neck joint has some minor paint loss just along the area where the neck meets the body. It has been there since I bought the guitar. The neck is tight, and there are no cracks or functional issues. The headstock has a couple of abrasions through the finish. (On the back)Hardware - The gold hardware is nice, but does show general wear, particularity on the tuner ends. (They are Grovers) They are dull from use, and show some silvering. Pick-ups and Mounting Rings - The neck pick-up mounting ring needs to be replaced. It is not causing issues, but it is cracked and separating on the back side. The pick-ups are Schallers, and as such, use a two screw mounting connection with the pick-up ring, versus the usual one screw configuration that most humbuckers use. I had always planned on replacing the pick-ups with something hotter so I never bothered to replace it. Alas, I never did, so it remains broken. As is, however, this is a very sweet sounding guitar with a nice mellow tone and tons of sustain. While certainly not needed, new pick-ups would have the benefit of curing the two screw issue though. If you choose to keep the original Schallers, appropriate pick-up rings can likely be found. They are a bit scarce though. Case - The guitar case is original, and shows some bumps and bruises. Nothing that affects function, and it it is quite presentable yet. The rear latch is missing the metal U-shaped latch piece. The body of the latch is still present on both the body and the lid, so this is something that could likely be fixed pretty easily. It never bothered me enough to do so. This case has been around the block a few times, but has held up well. That’s it! I know it sounds like a long list, but this guitar is extremely clean. It sounds great, as all Heritage guitars do, and with a little love, it will keep going for years to come. Feel free to ask questions and I will answer them to best of my abilities. I have placed shipping costs at $80.00. I am not interested in making money on shipping, but I have no real idea about how much the actual cost will end up being. It seems that shipping costs range from other sellers range from $60.00 to $100.00. If is ends up being more, I will eat the cost. If it ends up being less, I will return the difference to the buyer. I will not skimp on packing however, as the most important thing is to get it there in one piece.
