There a four different types of SG500 all with their own different characteristics. For instance, the original SG500 that came out in 1976 had the selector switch on the upper horn and a one piece mahogany set neck. The american SBG500 had a maple set neck with the selector switch down beside the volume and tone controls while the SG500B had a two piece mahogany neck that was bolted to the body by four screws. The original SG500 was replaced in 1979 by the SG600 while the SBG500 brought onto the US market in 1981 was the US version of the SG800S. The fourth 500 the SG510 was probably only available in Japan. It had speed knobs and Schaller type tuners, cost was reduced by manufacturing it with an agathis body without the maple top and a nato set neck By the way If you pick up a bolt on neck SG500B you won't find the jack socket on the top of the guitar's body. It's was moved on this model to the bottom of the guitar just like that Lessie Paulie guitar thing.Overall very good condition as vintage.
