FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING. This is the real deal--the original item--not a reproduction and not something else.   Absolutely to-die-for circa 1915 Vintage Mother-of-Pearl inlaid "Maurer" Bowl-back Mandolin made by Larsen Brothers with original finish and original label inside "Maurer New Model" above the serial number "21461." In addition to the Mother-of Pearl inlay, the edges of the front of the bowl and fingerboard neck are inlaid with buff color bakelite or bone or something else .  The tuning knobs are also bakelite or bone or something else.   This mandolin has recently been played by a Richmond, Virginia Mandolinist (Ms. Mara Smith) who commented on the superb reverberation within the bowl. Using a millimeter guage, I can state that the base of the strings is 9mm above the sound board at the pont of the "v" within the inlaid "M."  So that gives you an idea of the height of the strings. On May 15, 2013, this instrument was re-strung by John Gonzalez del Solar, proprieor of Fan Guitar and Ukulele of Richmond, VA.  The strings that were on the instrument were saved.  Now there are brand new D'Addario Mandolin Strings (four gold on the top (E-A-D-G) and four silver on the bottom).  Mr. del Solar then tuned this instrument and played an impromptu concert in his store on Richmond's Main Street. Here is the link to the product specifications page to the strings that were installed:  A soft case (grey Cordoba) accompanies the instrument to protect it.  The case is not original.   There is a little bit of surface scraping on the reverse from being laid on a white painted surface.  This is minor but mentioned so you will not be upset.  In the photo of the rear it appears worse than it is because of the reflection from the light.   There is two tiny bits of the black wood missing at the top of the neck, away from the playing surface.   The Mother-of-Pearl is 100% intact with no problems.   There is a beautiful "M" inlaid in the Mother of pearl for "Mauer."   There is a little bit of wear on the fingerboard.  If you are a serious buyer and would like to come to Richmond, Virginia and play this for yourself, message me and we will see what we can work out.  REALLY REALLY SUPER item.   FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING.   SHIPPING TO BE DONE IN A VERY CAREFUL AND THOUGHTFUL WAY.
