The PRS KL 380 is a member of Paul Reed Smith's limited edition KL Series, which features three different models of exotic korina-topped guitars. Korina is a highly prized West African tonewood, producing a tone similar to mahogany's, but one that tends to be more responsive, with a sweeter midrange. The use of korina alone is reason enough for guitar aficionados across the globe to fall in love with the KL 380. And, the fact that PRS is only making 100 of each KL Series guitar, makes the KL 380 even more of a collector's gem.Paul Reed Smith KL 380 LTD Edition Electric Guitar at a Glance:Limited Edition PRS Collectible - One of Approximately 100KL Series - topped with exotic solid KorinaFamous Custom 22 body style with black soapbar pickupsGorgeous PRS finishLimited Edition PRS Collectible - One of Approximately 100The PRS KL 380 brings a unique look to the PRS line - and it immediately boasts collector's status, due to its limited edition run. Approximately 100 of the KL 380 are being crafted in PRS's Maryland shop.KL Series - topped with exotic solid KorinaThe KL 380 - and the other KL Series guitars - have bodies made from solid korina, an exotic West African tonewood with a lighter hue and a stunning woodgrain. Korina was first used to craft select guitars in the late 1950s - many of which are among today's most collectible instruments, and for good reason. That's because the tone derived from korina is often compared to top-quality mahogany - yet is widely considered more desirable, as it tends to be more responsive, with a sweeter-voiced midrange. Korina, though, is difficult to find, and also requires extra-special care during the guitar-making process, which is why you don't see many guitars crafted from this highly sought after tonewood. Suffice it to say, Paul Reed Smith's KL Series features three very special instruments - each one hearkening back to the "golden era" of guitar making, but delivering a decidedly modern PRS look and sound.Famous Custom 22 body style with black soapbar pickupsThe Custom 22 was among Paul Reed Smith's first guitars - and still remains among his most popular designs. With its 25" scale length and 22 frets, Custom 22-bodied guitars are incredibly comfortable to play. The KL 380 features a regular D korina neck, an East Indian rosewood fingerboard, a smooth-moving tremolo, and PRS's prized black soapbar pickups.Gorgeous PRS finishThrough using the most advanced finishing technology, PRS has developed fat, ultra-high gloss finishes and rich stains that exquisitely highlight the color and grain of the woods while retaining the fast, smooth feel of vintage lacquer. Because color is an important component in any guitar's appearance, PRS dyes are specially blended to look their very best under stage lights, shining with such luster and brilliance that the guitar truly looks every bit as good as it sounds.Paul Reed Smith KL 380 LTD Edition Electric Guitar Features:Finish: Vintage NaturalSolid korina body and neckCustom 22 body style25" scale length22 fretsMoon inlaysTremoloBlack Soapbar pickups with 5-way selector Volume control and Tone controlThe Paul Reed Smith KL 380 brings together exotic tone and classic PRS design, in one highly collectible instrument! The original pickups have been changed to custom hand wound pickups by Harry Haussell of Germany. Far and away the best sounding pickups I have ever heard. I can compare them to nothing on the market...they have a tone that is so organic yet rich in harmonics and as musical and full as you could ever imagine. The bridge is a slightly over wound anico 5 gem that can be split to blend beautifully with the Haussell single coil in the middle pos or run it all alone as a single coil. The neck pickup is a alnico 3 voiced to sound beautiful all alone but blends oh so soulfully with either the bridge pickup or the single coil in the middle pos. It also can be split to single coil giving this instrument amazing tonal capabilities. The original PRS p90's will be included along with all the original paperwork and hang tags. Even the keys and truss rod tool are here and the original PRS hard shell case is in very good condition. no rips, tears, and all the latches work perfect. A very nice case indeed. I will also include a very nice, slightly padded PRS strap with Dunlap strap locks installed. The guitar itself is as close to perfect as you can get. Zero fret wear. And the finish is nearly perfect. Maybe the lightest of wear can be seen by the most scrutinizing of eyes but you've really got to look and look hard to see it. In faqct I thought I remembered a very small ding somewhere in the finish but I searched very hard when taking pictures and I couldn't find it anywhere...if it's there, it's small. Let's give a quick moment to how she plays. Perfect !!! Unbelievable ! Amazing ! If you've played a nicer playing guitar and are disappointed with the way this one plays send it back. PERIOD !!! Kids, I started playing guitar in 1969 and I have only found 1 or 2 that played as nice as this and I own both of them. So when it comes to selling one of them deciding which one is nearly impossible. Believe me when I say this guitar is nothing short of a pure delight to play. The tone is so inspiring ! ( I'm talking myself out of selling this !!) Just sit back...close your eyes, and let the guitar speak to you. Heck it plays itself !! You just sit back and listen to the magic happen. Thanks
